I have just been looking at the lyrics to this song
Rachel and Jessie were brilliant. With only a few days practice as well. I can't believe it!
It's just unbelievable. No wonder CM liked Rachel. I wasn't too sure about her singing before. But pulling off that song. Plus both Rachel and Jessie are so different, and it actualy worked
I actualy think it was the best performence of the show.

Was it only me that found it really disturbing the way Rachel belted "watch me coming!!!!"

Ha. That was a little creepy actualy. But she had to sing it

Aww I loved that performence, it was far better than the other one, which was good but Sam and Jodie didn't work well together. And the dancing was yikes.
I think that it was becasue of their vioces not being very similar.

I didn't like this number at all and would probably be one of my low points of the whole series. I thought it was a mess and would be completely baffling to anyone who didn't know the song.

OMG! someone who didn't see Evita??!! you are now out of my circle, good bye!!

for the most part i think JCS was the better known song and always brings the crowd to their feet. it is just one of those numbers. but Buenos Aires has the same feel when you see Miss Duarte , leaving her roots to make something of herself.

I actually liked this song when it featured in the Evita film. But of course it wasn't live then. But I thought Rachel and Jessie made a bit of a mess of it - but you're right - it must have been difficult - also to sing it as a duet!

But JCS also seemed so complex but i really enjoyed that (sorry Buddy!)

I don't really think either song worked brilliantly. Buenos Aires needs a context to work and it's wordy, but they didn't do a bad job in the circumstances. I think that JCS was a bit of a mess because Jodie looked lost at the beginning, and their 2 voices just didn't mesh well.

JCS was a stupid choice - while it worked for Keith and Lee in the ADWD final, it was unsuitable for Sam and Jodie. Buenos Aires was also a bizarre song choice! There are plenty of lovely and/or strong duets for female voices that could have been chosen! It's a pity they were restricted to ALW songs, because there's a lovely one (I Still Believe from Miss Saigon) that would have worked perfectly with the younger/older voice pairings!

Buenos Aires is more complex than JCS.

Nope, I've never seen Evita on stage and I can't stand Madonna, so I've never watched the film either.

All I can say is when they'd finished singing Buenos Aires my husband said "What the hell was that?"

For what it is worth I've already posted saying I hated the JCS number as well, so my opinion has nothing to do with who I supported!

They were both terrible song choices. I think we were supposed to see how well the girls could "rock" but it seemed like more of an excuse to advertise ALW songs

Also I kept comparing JCS with Lee and Keith's performance last year which I thought was great. I really didn't think it suited women's voices at all.

BA was OK - they had a lot of words to learn but it looked a bit haphazard to me. There are far better duets they could have done.

LOL. I had to go and do that too..... ! Haha.

I definately prefered Buenos Aires to JCS in the duets. I thought Jessie and Rachel complimented each other much more vocally, which helped- but they kinda blew Jodie and Sam out of the water on the duet front, even with those weird gold dresses. I remember thinking Rachel was AMAZING.

Both song choices, as others have said, were a bit bizarre though.

I would say the opposite...Laur we're disagreeing

I thought Jessie and Rachels voices clashed! TBH tho, I always though Jessies voice stood out from all the others in group songs, which I dont know if that is a good or bad thing!

JCS you can out more 'umph' into!

Yeh I liked JCS. But the problem was that Sam and Jodie have very different singing styles.
Sam put on a higher vioce.
But I think Jodie did better.
Where as I thought that Rachel and Jessie were equaly good in their duet.

Jodie's voice is quite husky, while Sam's voice is anything but. It sounded like Jodie's voice was getting lost under the music in the beginning of the song, and their voices just sounded too different for me.

I was disappointed in both duets. I watched the 4 Josephs give us amazing duets last year so was really looking forward to this section. I thought both songs were shouty and a a mess.
