Is Helene one of the most useless candidates ever?

I truly feel that she lacked any professional decorum, creativity and leadership skills. She was contiually negative and while I disliked the entire final 4, it was easy to see how 3 had made it. Her wedding-dress task was abysmal, and the team lost from the minute she chose those ghastly dresses, and furthermore split the group so the same 2 never saw all the accessories. AND, on the car task, while Lucinda was heavily criticised she did at least make a sale (albeit £64!).

Helene was really quite awful and to me, proved nothing in the whole time she was there.

Well, there are two types of useless - people who do nothing and people who are incompetant - the latter is worse than the former therefore Kevin Shaw was the most useless in series 4.

The whole thing has been over for three days now.

And yet you still find the need to start yet another thread to be unpleasant and spiteful to someone you've never met.

You must have some serious issues in your life that makes you feel the need to behave in this way.

For goodness sake, lighten up and try and appreciate the good in the candidates (yes, even Michael).

I wouldn't mind but there is already an almost identical thread already on the front page of the forum....

In my opinion Helene wasn't the worst candidate.

In order of pure uselessness I would rate them in the following order

1) Ian
2) Kevin
3) Lucinda
4) Shazia
5) Jenny C

That's what Sir Alan said about her in the boardroom, yet the next week he backtracked and called them all "real competitors".

I don't think we got to see enough of Shazia, and she didn't deserve to go when she did. Michael should be on that list!

It's a very artificial situation, and I don't think any of them came off as being uber-talented and remarkable - it's an entertainment programme, and nothing more. Raef, Lucinda and Lee were probably the most popular candidates, but they were all fairly useless.

She used to hang onto Claire's coat-tail and just follow what she said/did. Apart from that, i don't know what she did! Absolutely useless!

What she actually did was put the fluence on the other candidates so that she could sit around, do nothing and yet never be fingered to AS as anyone else who didn't pull their weight was (and even some who did pull their weight).

That girl must have some powerful voodoo.

Clearly she didn't sit around doing nothing; what I'm struggling with is trying to think what she did well.

I'm not going to go into detail on her performance as PM on the photography task, since that's been discussed ad nauseum; sufficient to say I wasn't a fan. Her main decisions as PM on the wedding task turned out badly (the decision to split the team to look at the dresses and the dress selection) and yes, I thought she should have gone then. On the car task, she failed to make any sales, though this may have been bad luck (unlike Michael, whose sales suffered due to obvious poor decisions on location). In the final, she more or less admitted on YF that the problems between her and Alex were her fault; a little over-generous to Alex, but from what we saw, she was distinctly moody and difficult on that task.

I'm finding it difficult to recall much of her on the other tasks, and I accept she would have been doing a lot that was edited out. But I find it hard to think of anything she did that stood out as good, and with Claire, Lee and Alex I can.

Michael was the most useless candidate of this, and probably any other series. Ironically, people's dislike of him probably distracts from how rubbish he was. It's difficult to forget the 3 hour apostrophe search, the halalakosher chicken, the Camp X-ray approach to cake sales or the Ferrari in a fruit market. Likewise, not only did he press for Raef to take the tissue box out of the tissues ad, he was also the one who first suggested to Helene that they split the team to view wedding items according to geography, not type (then later bitched about it).

By the time he was fired he'd made Paul Callaghan look like an elbow/a*se discrimination expert.

It's difficult to know whether Helene was any good or not as she didnt really feature much in the show. It's unlikely that she could have been as inactive as it seemed whilst Lucinda and Sara got so much flack for not doing enough.

Helene's clip on YF was hilarious though, "...and now we have a montage of all the times during the show when Helene walked towards the camera swinging her arms body builder-style like a ballsy northern woman with balls".

Helene should of worn a beret and been slightly quirky. People would of overlooked her being useless.

It's difficult to get rid of your own bias in these things, but I thought Raef was a pretty decent candidate, as well as liking him. In fact I'm not convinced anyone who outstayed him was that much better, (although I didn't think any of the interviewees were as good as last year's finalists, frankly). He won the laundry task, carried Michael through the card task, got probably the best deal in Morocco and made what proved to be right decision in the wedding task (though he didn't sell). Even the week he got booted for the product-free ad, his ad was much less bad than the other team's ad in most ways.

Lucinda didn't seem like a great candidate to me (but then I didn't like her as much as many on here). 'Hates selling, can't work a computer and can't remember 2 syllable words' is unfair, but not totally unfair. She was labelled as the voice of reason during the tissues task, but the actual ad didn't benefit much from having her closely involved in editing it and, let's be honest, if Alex had let her shoot a gay tissues ad she would not have made it to the interviews. She was also quite childish in the car-sellng task.

Lee just seemed like a middling candidate - neither an idiot nor brilliant.

I thought Raef was rather good but do admit he screwed up on the photography task but I honestly believe Michael should have gone. Raef was a good team leader, good team player and seemed to have the knack of getting on with everyone.

Lee was a good team leader and player also. He motivated others and was a real asset to any team he was part of.

Ian I can't remember anything inspiring about him. Kevin was hopeless, Michael's only talent was begging in the BR.
