Sixties Tv sex siren Alexandra Bastedo is to join EastEnders.

The glamourpuss who was a household name through the 1960s TV action adventure series The Champions has been persuaded to come out of semi-retirement to spice up the BBC1 soap. Alexandra, 62, will arrive in Albert Square later this year as a character called Cynthia in a storyline involving Walford whingers Gary Hobbs (played by Ricky Groves) and Rick "Minty" Peterson (Cliff Parisi). Insiders say Alexandra will have the pair in a lather with her sex appeal.

An Albert Square source said: "This is a real coup for the show."

plus, not MORE minty and gary storylines: hands down only part of eastenders i dont like in the least atm.

It's for the old people who watch EE, they want to see some sexy old people as well as we want to see some young sexy people

Alexandra was still very beautiful on the "We Were The Champions" reunion documentary a couple of years ago.

She appeared in two episodes of The Saint, and has turned up in Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), Department S, Jason King, The Adventurer(of which her former co-star on The Champions, Stuart Damon, was supposed to be a regular, except that lead actor Gene Barry had Stuart fired on full pay for a year after two episodes purely because Stuart was taller than him and Gene didn't like taller people!),The Ghoul and Absolutely Fabulous

Think I'll wait until I've seen the storyline before I completely rubbish it out of hand.
