Sir Alan's sidekicks 'are hired' for Strictly Come Dancing
SteUK

Quote:
“Sir Alan Sugar’s Apprentice TV sidekicks are set to be thrust into the limelight – on Strictly Come Dancing.

Nick Hewer and Margaret Mountford have been approached to appear in the sixth series, to be aired on the BBC in the autumn.

Mr Hewer, an ex-PR advisor for the Amstrad businessman, is believed to be more enthusiastic to take part than Ms Mountford.

Appearing on the show as celebrities would net them £25,000 each for the 12-week series.

A source said: "They are the unacknowledged stars of The Apprentice and more and more people have been watching it because of them.”

Story

Sounds interesting if either of them did take part - the thought of Nick doing a Jive

This is probably the only pair who could make me watch SCD!

There is a slight flaw in the plan!! Those idiots on the Daily Mail probably didn't think of it either. The next Apprentice series filming takes place at the same time as SCD. I would hazard a guess that they can make 25k each from the Apprentice - easily!

Brucie got 475k (approx) for the last SCD series.

I hope they resist this. Sorry but the older contestants on SCD never get very far into the series.

I want to keep Margaret & Nick as winners

I hope this is just rumour - I currently have respect for Nick and Margaret. I don't think that would last too long if either of them became the beneficiary of the sympathy vote on SDC; or indeed if Nick became the subject of Arlene's lust.

They're too good for SCD!
and i don't see them, especially Margeret wanting to become celebs

Nick will be melting over the dancer he is paired with. He will give her the look he once gave a certain Britney look-alike.

I hope this doesn't come off.

Margaret is a class act but that will all change if she goes the zelebrity route.

The pay doesn't sound particularly good.

£25,000 isn't bad for a few weeks work. It's more than a lot of us get paid that's for sure. I guess they're not in it for the money, but more for the experience and pleasure that ballroom dancing brings. They want a new challenge which is something we all require at some point in our lives. Bring on SCD!

If Arlene tries to be bitchy all they need to do is give her their special look and that will shut her up.

Margaret won't. She's great on The Apprentice, but is too shy to even appear on You're Fired! (other than in the audience).

And the above poster is right in that the older contestants in SCD never last long and are just cannon fodder for the first few weeks; Margaret has too much class and dignity to subject herself to that.

Good grief.

Probably not a good idea. As already said, the older contestants don't really stand a chance.

Oh my! I wait in sheer anticipation to see Margaret Mountford shake those hips to a salsa. I for one will be dying with laughter!
Good on them for both doing it, if they definitely do go through with it!

It would ruin their 'mystique' I fear

And how can anyone take Margaret seriously on The Apprentice after seeing her 'shake those hips to a salsa' or Nick after he's done a few pelvic thrusts in tight lycra

In the words of Margaret, we'll all be shaking our heads and saying in 2009 'The Apprentice isn't what it used to be'

I'm killing myself with laughter just thinking about it (not in a nasty way).

Now why doesn't that surprise me?
