Scandinavian musician Esbjörn Svensson dies tragic accident
According to the Expressen newspaper in Sweden (http://www.expressen.se/nyheter/1.11...n-svensson-dod), the talented jazz musician, pianist and composer Esbjörn Svensson has passed on in a tragic diving accident outside Stockolm at the young age of 44 leaving a wife and children.
Along with musical partners, Magnus Öström and Dan Berglund, he formed the Esbjörn Svensson Trio which toured and gained a good reputation. They were responsible for a number of interesting pieces such as 'From Gagarin's point of view'. It was an untimely death as he had so much more to offer and I expect there will be a tribute this coming Saturday afternoon on Radio 3. |

Terrible news for the Jazz world. Infact, it's been a terrible twelve months for Jazz with some of the all time greats leaving us, but this is really shocking and sad given his age.
RIP Esbjörn |

That's absolutely shocking news
![]() EST were, in my opinion, the greatest jazz trio of the past 10 years. And with so much more yet to give... Here's a clip of 'From Gagarin's point of view' for anyone who's interested in knowing what the fuss is about...for me, as a pianist Esbjörn had the most beautiful tone since the late, great Bill Evans RIP
