You've summed up my thoughts exactly. I was so bored watching tonight I could have easily given up - having watched it for more years than I care to mention!
I read somewhere a while back that they're cutting down on the parts for the oldies. Big mistake. The "oldies" are the only ones who provide any form of humour these days. That was always what made Corrie so much better than other soaps, the humour, with some really first class writing. But for a long time now, it's become lacklustre and dreary. Everything a soap usually is. Whoever was in charge of the storylines/characters for the last couple of years has turned it into dross. I'll give it another couple of months, but then I might be giving it up.

i watched tonights ep and didn't enjoy one minuite of the ep and now i think that untill it makes a dramatic improvment i won't be watching Corrie anymore and this is something i wouldn't have even considered doing years ago but it is now unbearable to watch and poorly written too
sort it Corrie

That story was confirmed to be rubbish.
New, younger (not young though!) humourous characters wouldn't go amiss. Don't let Corrie become just another gloomy soap please. |

It wasn't riveting and hasn't been for a while now. The last decent story they had was the loss of Maria and Liam's baby
![]() Its lost the comedy element, you could always guarantee having at least one laugh during an episode. It will bounce back, it always does. |

All soaps have ups and downs.
I was saying earlier in the Neighbours vs Home And Away thread that they tend to go in 2 year cycles. For 2 years Neighbours is ace, and H & A is tosh, and then they swap, for another 2 years. Its the same pattern with EE and Corrie. They have good / bad cycles. Has there been any soap that didn't have bad patches though? I remember a while before High road was axed they ruined it with shinty and boring stories. |

My suggestions are
Get rid of Fizz, Sean and Kelly. Keep the Morton's Liam should front it out with Carla and call her bluff instead of rolling over at the first hint of trouble! That would be a good start. |

I do not agree with this downward spiral business. I am quite happy with Corrie even though it could do with dumping the characters which I do not like

i thought the liam and maria baby story was rubbish..
they could have done it better..get rid of carla i say and her boyfriend..and these thuggish storyline they have planned for her boyfriend wont work with corrie..they dont fit in.. bring back some old characters...the conners have never fitted in to corrie...and as for the factory suddenly becoming the size of a warehouse..thats stupid..

I think that Liam and Maria have gotten over the loss of their baby far too quickly. It hasn't even been two months! Compare that to the storyline on Emmerdale, there still getting over it. And Corrie had been getting better, what with the Heart Attack/Robberies/Cellar Storyline?

i'm not really sure what corrie needs at the moment but there do seem to be some really pointless storylines going on just as if they've decided we've got five episodes a week to fill so what storylines can we come up with.
What is the point of the house swap, the Lloyd being told he'd finlays dad when the Mortons are leaving anyway. They could have carried on the 'battle' between steve and dan for a few more weeks rather than making it end in such a final way. The older members of the cast do still give me some nice moments though. just things that the older generation seem to be able to do in soaps that just wouldn't work with younger people and viewers of what ever age i think find them ammusing. Even back in the 80's derek and mavis used to make me smile. Now it's the turn of Norris - maybe it's something more to do with them all working with Rita in the Cabin, hadn't thought about that. Theres too many houses in that street at the moment that dont really have any living characters in it that are taking a regular part in the show so they really need to get some new ones in quick. |

I've pretty much given up on Corrie now. I tend to dip in and out - I might watch an episode here and there but it's showing no obvious signs of improvement. I used to be a regular viewer but I have a lot better things I can be doing than feeling obliged to sit down and watch what can only be described as utter tripe.
Kim Crowther has one heck of a job on her hands. |

Corrie is rubbish now I watch it every month or so. Even Emmerdale is better these days.
Get Tracy Barlow back. Vindictive, evil, what more could a soap want. ![]()

I'm a bit confused now. There's only one Claire in Corrie and she's certainly not boring

My suggestions.
-- Keep the Mortons. Particually Daryll and Jerry who provide the much-needed humour. -- Focus more on the oldies and stop isolating some audience members. -- Take more storyline risks. They're playing it too safe and sticking with stuff that won't cause controversy -- Keep it up with David/Gail/Tina, and other members of the Platt clan. Television gold. -- Keep it ip with the Connors. Maybe slightly less though. -- Axe Chesney and Kirk -- MORE HUMOUR. And another humerous character bought in. None of the men on the street are actually funny (-Norris). They tried it with Kirk and failed miserably. We need some funny men. |
