Just got my new DTI 3600. Its fine. I agree with all the comments about the noisy fan, and no PiP, awkward Guide. But it seems to work OK and is not bad for £80

HOWEVER, my remote doesn't seem to operate correctly. The only way to turn the unit on or off is to use the Standby button. The DTR / TV buttons don't seem to work.

Also, I can't get it to operate the TV. I have tried both the numbers provided on the supplied list for the TV. I even get the "one long flash of the TV button". But it refuses to operate the TV controls (ie volume!)

Has anybody had any similar problems? Is it the remote or the unit?

Where can I get a replacement remote?

Any help would be gratefully recived.

The DTR and TV buttons don't turn anything on or off. They tell the remote which thing to control so press the DTR then the power button and it'll put the DTR to sleep. When you want to control the TV you press the TV button and everything from then on affects the TV.

Perhaps you need to try some other remote control codes for the TV manufacturer. The one long flash just tells you that the remote has accepted the code, it doesn't tell you if it is the *right* code, just that it is valid.

Thanks TrevorPS. However, your comments tend not to agree with the instructions in the accompanying handbook (almost entirely as it happens!)

Does anybody know where I can a) see if there are any updated numbers for my TV, to try and enter to the remote, and b) where I can get some support or an a new remote as it is clearly not working as indicated in the instructions.

The TV is a DMTECH 17" TFT LCD TV. (I can't find the model number as the plate is conveniently placed right behind the bespoke wall mounting bracket. )

The numbers given in by Thomson for DMTECH are 1994 and 1368. Both of these are accepted by the remote, but neither operates the TV.

Other numbers have been suggested, but these are not accepted by the remote ie one long red blink from TV button.

I have re-read the instructions, and they SPECIFICALLY STATE, "To turn on your DTR, press any number button, the DTR button or the "Standby" button. The red indicator light will go green."

This doesn't happen with my remote. which is why I think the remote is not working properly, which is why I want a replacement. But there are no details about whom to contact. My only option is to return the whole unit plus remote to TESCO. My experience of that is not good!

The info given by TrevorPS is correct about switching on the DTR....I can only assume that either the info on page 9 has always been incorrect, or that the function to switch on as stated in the manual was changed once the DTR was launched in December 2006.

The correct method to switch on the DTR from the remote, and only method since December 2006 is as follows:

Press DTR button on remote.
Press Standby button on remote (top right red circle)

If you are trying any other method than that, it will not work. The manual has the incorect info.

As new features are added to the DTR, the manual will become even more out of date, but instructions are sent to your DTR as messages when new features are added.
For example, since the DTR was launched, the DTR now has a facility to Search the EPG....this was never mentioned in the manual, as it wasn't available when it was printed.
