I agree with the OP, Sir Ian Mckellen in Corrie. He was a class act.

I enjoyed the appearances made by Julian Clary, Emma Bunton etc in the Neighbours episodes of Karl and Susan's trip to London.
Tony Christie in Emmerdale was another good one I thought, especially as it turned out he was an old flame of Diane's

My vote goes to the brilliant Sheila Hancock who did a turn in EE as Steve Owen's creepy mother Barbara. Wonderful stuff.

Ian McKellen was brilliant. Really enjoyed his episodes. Sheila Hancock was also good, she was kind of scary.

Ian McKellen in Corrie was very popular with my mum. Who hates soaps!
Quite a landmark for Corrie, that one. |

Agree with all the suggestions so far. Perhaps not quite in the same league, but what about the March 2000 episode of Brookie which had The Nolans and Carol Smillie turning up at the St Patrick's Day celeb ration at Bev's bar? It was really funny, as the writer invented a fictional grudge between the Nolans and Carol Smillie...

Lou and Andy in Charlies on Neighbours by miles.
It was actually a cameo where they played themselves rather than being a famous guest actor. |

![]() I agree about Sheila Hancock too, she was fantastic. Lou and Andy in Neighbours was ridiculous. |
