Bill Kenwright must be mad, Jessie found it difficult to walk properly lot alone move so I can hardly see her play Sally Bowles.
I certainly wouldn't be happy if when buying my ticket that I found Jessie playing the role of Nancy, however many months it is until the opening of of the show.

No I don't think so either. She is still really quite young and she hasn't got that much experience yet.
Playing the alternet is less pressure for her.
Plus I want to see her and Gwion as oliver and Nancy.

me too, i really hope its true, i reckon rachel and jessie are up for both roles, i really hope it ends up as rachel in cabaret, jessie nancy, but knowing my luck it will be the other way round lol

Well Rachel seems more suited as Sally B.
I think she would prefer a full time role anyway, she needs it more than Jessie does.

well, i knew that Jessie would end up getting more of a lead role and she will be happier with that than playing a supporting one.she didn't see it on the night of the final, but she will see it now. this is why CM shouldn't have stropped when she lost, because he should of thought how else he could use her. or any producer for that matter. Liza probably helped encourage this too. i don't know if i see her in that one, but we will see.

As far as Connie goes...she won this 2 years ago and it is still booking? goes to show that these kinds of talent competitions on telly are not needed to book these shows in the grand scheme of it all.


actually main rehearsals only start in October. that is where the meat of it is done.

If Jessie does become the other nancy I will be put out because I have booked tickets and its definately a Jodie day - don't mind Jodie at all, but if I had the choice of seeing Jessie or Jodie I would prefer Jessie. I am also going for Rowan Atkinson.

As for cabaret - I think Jessie showed on on the final she can cope with that sort of thing in the trio song. I have to admit that I really didn't rate Rachel's Cabaret as high as other people- I thought it was an emotional performance mainly because she was trying to prove something and also was sung with much energy, but I thought it also looked a little desperate.

Hi, I have been lurking here for a while hoping for some news about Jessie and finally it looks as though she may be getting the break she deserves.

I hope she does Nancy as she is still young and relatively inexperienced, 2 shows a week will give her time to hone her skills and learn more about how professional theatre works before taking a leading role.

No one cried foul when Aoife did 2 shows a week in SOM so why should this be any different......in fact this is the perfect compromise.

Finally although I loved Jessie's performances in IDA and desperately wanted her to win, I always knew that Jodie was the one to beat right from the first live show

the difference is Connie had to step down for a while due to illness, this is not the case with Jodie. I thought Jessie got the lead in Cabaret, I have to read more closely

I'm slightly confused, I thought Rachel was the Nancy most likely to be given the role of in Cabaret as she's had meetings with Bill etc.
Is there anyway theres been a name mix up?

I think Jessie might like the role of Lead rather then feel she got handed seconds....have to watch and see

I thought people were saying that none of the contestants who lost could go up for the role of Nancy (at least for the first run of the show) as this would cause controversy with the BBC for all the people who phoned in (payed money) and voted for Jodie.

hmmm, I wonder why too. like i said aoife was only in due to connie's absense. this is different. what happens to the other person cast to do the shows jodie isn't doing? it's not called I'd Do Anything...casting for two nancy's

They posted a comment on it yesterday/day before last saying that Jessie had got her dream job/role but couldn't say yet.

To be honest, I would rather see Rachel in Cabaret, her performance of it was aaaaamazing!

I just can't see Jessie having the experience to carry off the lead in Cabaret TBH. Her voice is fab, but everything else needs a lot of work to be West End standard IMHO. I can see her covering the two performances of Nancy a week. I'm not sure what to make of all this.

My understanding was that it was in the terms of the contract that Cameron couldn't offer an alternate position to anyone until Jodie has actually started as Nancy. Presumably TSOM and Joseph operated on the same basis. And given that Jodie doesn't actually start till December, I can understand why Cameron stropped, because if he wants Jessie, it was always going to be difficult to keep her hanging until after Christmas. She was always going to get other offers.

Gosh, Caberet is my favourite musical of all time. Jessie as Sally would be wonderful, but I hope she'd be ready for it. I wouldn't worry about her dancing, Sally is supposed to be a rubbish cabaret artist. When they opened about two years ago on the West End they cast a Sally Bowles who plainly couldn't sing (Anna Maxwell Martin). My worry would be that Bill Kenwright won't have the resources to give Jessie the kind of professional training she might need in terms of an accent coach and stuff. Cameron would definitely have seen to that.

As for Rachel, I wasn't wild about her Cabaret (a bit of a Rachel overload for me). She's a natural choice for the part, but I'd prefer to see what Jessie can do with it. There'll be lots of other stuff out there for Rach. I doubt they've mixed up the names, because hasn't Jessie been talking about being offered her dream role?

I don't think they'd be too worried about that after last year which turned a bit farcical. Graham spent ten weeks saying 'there can only be one Joseph' but in the aftermath there turned out to be a lot more than that. WE Joe, holiday WE Joe, touring Joe, occasional touring Joe, not to mention narrators and a host of brothers.

I really don't think it would be appropriate for Jessie to play alternate Nancy straight away; there should only be one winner and Jodie deserves her chance to be "the" Nancy; at least for a while.

I understand CMs frustration, but he really didn't think this through properly Or thought he could do exactly as he pleased all along. He can't.

thing is lol i thought jessie said nancy was her dream role, she has said it since the show aswell, from her point of view i think it would be great for her to ease her in, gain experience and still get lots of training, I can understand that it might look bad on jodie's part, but at least jessie wouldn't be doing four shows like originally thought; people will have still voted for the nancy doing the bulk of the shows, and without the vote jodie wouldn't have got a look in.

Caberet is too soon i reckon, I have looked at the website, i might be wrong but it starts end of august, after jessie said she was willing to wait and perhaps get more training, I worry that this is too soon for her, however i'm sure she knows whats she is doing. I would however prefer rachel in this part atm

Think the only way we'll know what is happening for definite is if we get a press statement from ALW/CM/Jessie or if those people who know her from back home actually reveal what it is they know. It probably is something quite significant seeing as they said they can't say anything yet.
