Renaissance - Worst Team Ever!!!
Mazzarin
19-06-2008
Ive just done some checking and Team Renaissance from Series 4 are the worst team up to date;

A total of 2 wins out of 10 tasks.

In the other series' the win/loss split was 5-5, 5-5 and 6-4.

I never saw the the previous teams in action much (except for Saira almost getting everyone kicked out of a football Stadium) so I wondered what was so much worse about them?

Bad luck? Poor quality team members? Poor combination of team members?

I dont really see the points of team names, ater episode 3 the get chopped and changed about so much that having names is nearly irrelevant.

Its hard to say Renaissance had a weaker team when most of the candidates were part of that team at some point

It's worth pointing out that Alex and Helene were (nominally) Renaissance in the final - something that's obviously never been an issue in previous years - so it's actually a total win of 2 out of 11!

Exactly, the name of the team can't be used as a measure of anything since the candidates making up those teams were constantly moving from one side to another....

Just for example, Raef was part of Renaissance for four weeks and Alpha for five weeks, while Sara was part of Alpha for four weeks and Renaissance for four weeks. Lucinda was actually the only candidate to remain on the same team (Alpha) throughout.

eta: slightly OT, but I was watching episode one back earlier today, and I realised for the first time it was Simon that came up with the name 'Renaissance'...

The teams in the final were not classified as Renaissance or Alpha. The last week of the team names was for the car task.

Was there any candidate who was always on Renaissance?

I was thinking the other day that Michael was pretty bad. He had 3 wins out of 10, which is low for someone who reached the end of the tasks. I was thinking this in connection with Helene. She had 5 wins from her first 7, then Michael joins her team for the last 3 tasks and she loses all 3. Having Michael on your team was close to being the kiss of death.

Sir Alan fired the team leader 5 times, and all except 1 were boys. I reckon Renaissance started off the weaker team.

Alex was the longest-serving member of Renaissance - he was there from week 1 to week 9. But in terms of those that progressed to the final, none of them were part of Renaissance throughout. His presence certainly helps to explain why they lost so often though...

Watch the final again. They're explicitly referred to as Alpha and Renaissance a couple of times.
