I was just thinking today that the wee Sharp 14" FST we have in our bedroom is 21 years old

Anyone got anything older they still use?

I lost the starter handle for mine and had to throw it out

Until recently I had a 14" Sanyo B&W from 1974 and a 15" Hitachi colour from 1980. Both were in full working order but had long been replaced by more modern units. Taking up loft space so sadly they had to go.

Still have a fully working Philips CD100 CD player from 1983. (equally boxed and taking up loft space)

I still use my 7th birthday present - albeit in the shed - which makes it 35 years old!. It is a 14" Hitachi "IC" black & white TV, manual tuning, in fetching orange & black plastic.

And they have hardly made a decent TV since!

We have an old 21in Nokia TV in the spare room which still goes.
It must be around 14 years old or more.

But a completely misleading article - he's not converted his TV at all - he's simply converting 625 lines down to 405 lines in an external box. It's the sort of device that is used in museums in order to show old sets working.

Yes I have still got my late father's Hitachi 12 inch colour TV from 1980 (ish).

Manual preset tuning and push button channel change and of course no remote or SCART socket.

Never had any trouble with it and still a good picture.

I think it will last forever and it gets used daily.

I would also add that I have a Matsui 14 inch from 1989.. it's also in use daily and has never been a bit of trouble apart from replacing the remote with a one-for-all thingy.

A Pye 14" studiocolour from 1979--heavy white cased thing that refuses to die! Actually, it only now gets used occasionally............

The number of times Hitachi is mentioned here suprises me!

Though, my parents recently replaced an Hitachi Colour TV which was working, the screen had a faint green/yellow hue to it. It was 28 years old. At the time it was one of the 1st colour TV's in the street, the shop and staff in the shop who sold it to my parents still work in the shop, they took £100 trade in value for it and my parent bought a Panasonic TV from them.

My dad still uses a 26 year old tv, it’s his main/only one. It has however just started to die, poor colour quality compared to a year ago and there are lines and shadow on the screen now.

I’m using this as an excuse to buy a new one and give him my old one!
