Donna's father?
girlsolazy

Has anyone else noticed that Donna's mother has more than once referred to Donna's absent father - I am sure that there must be some significance in this, or else why would it be in the script?

Can anyone enlighten me - have we ever seen Donna's father or been told who/where he is?

Tonight the Dr himself wondered why Donna's path had crossed his more than once.

I'm almost too scared to say where my thoughts are going with this, except to say I avoided calling this thread "Who is Donna's father?"

We know her father, rtd has said that refered to his death. The actor died before completing filming.

The actor who played Donna's father in TRB died before shooting the new series, so instead of recasting they added Wilf, they have mentioned him for the actors memory and so fans aren't like "Wheres Donna's dad gone"

As others have said we have met Geoff Noble in TRB and the actor died before completion of filming. Maybe the characters 'death?' will have been worked into the storyline.

The guy who played Geoff Noble shot the first episode, Partners In Crime, but then later died (he was already ill during PiC). So they made Wilf (Bernard Cribbins) from the Christmas special into Donna's grandad and reshot the scenes with him.

That's a bit tragic.

It's a real tragedy about the actor, but thank heavens we got Bernard Cribbins, he's been superb.

What happenedwas that Howard Attfield ( who played Donna's dad) died. RTD and everybody didn't want to replace him, so they added Donna's grandad as an additional character. He has been fantastic, hasn't he?

Wilf has been brilliant! So sad about Donna's dad and what a testiment to the actor as they didn't replace him. I think Donna and her mum work better without Dad on the scene tragic as it is for the actor who played him.

I think Wilf (Bernard Cribbins) is fantastic. He should be the new companion!
