Sky Digital xmltv epg grabber

I have created a simple grabber in php (I don't really know any other languages well enough...) to grab listings from the new online sky epg (http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skyco...ide/tvlistings). The listings are more complete than the epg available from radio times (there are more channels listed).

I have also included a description of how to read the data available from the epg in order to create your own grabber.

In order to use my grabber you need to download and install php from http://uk2.php.net/get/php-5.2.6-win.../from/a/mirror

Using the documentation in the package linked above, I've written what could become an "official" XMLTV grabber (in perl) for the sky.com EPG.

I'm hoping to get it included in the official XMLTV releases at some point, but you can download it here in the meantime: http://github.com/Floppy/tv_grab_uk_sky/tree/master

cheers,
James

Just to let you guys know DJBlu has been working on an XML grabber for Sky UK and Italia taken from the broadcast (not web) EPG - instructions in this post (ignore 3, 6 and 7 if you don't have DVBViewer). DJ is working on a version that will automatically update DVBViewer, but it is not released yet.

This seems to have stopped working.

Word is that Sky made some changes on the website as some iPhone apps have broken at the same time.

Open the cmd file in a text editor, search & replace:
Code:
www.sky.com/portletepg
with
Code:
epgservices.sky.com/tvlistings-proxy
All working perfectly again (for me anyway).

I love this grabber & couldn't do without it!

EPGCollector does a similar thing but needs a sat card.
