EastEnders last week - brilliant! What did you think?
I think EastEnders last week was absolutely brilliant and really well written, I don't think they could have done the storyline any better.

It was a brilliant week, with only one flaw that annoyed me:
Thursday's episode should have ended with the music box playing it's final notes. Not Abi sending the text.

It was quite good, there were quite a few flaws but I suppose they were necessary for the dramatic effect.
May was brilliant, and I was quite impressed with Dawn for once. Two things annoyed me- why couldn't they have killed off either Mickey or Keith? IMO it would have been a good dramatic twist, and a good exit for one of them. Also, the whole situation with the Brannings. Jack is becoming more dire by the episode and he is dragging everyone else down with him. He is ruining Tanya, and his scenes with Abi made me cringe. Hurry up back Max, and rescue your family!! |

I thought it was a very good week for EE. The only criticism being the whole drama of the house explosion being lessened somewhat by Bobby Davro in a union jack waistcoat saying 'come on boys and girls, it's showtime!' or something equally as ridiculous and cringeworthy. *Winces*

I thought it was terrible. Re-using an old storyline (May wants Summer), disrespectful to women with mental health or fertility problems (May), too contrived (OF COURSE May will find Dawn. In her house. Alone.), too ridiculous (Lucy's boyf in the stocks/Jane going straight for a drink/May channeling Jack Nicholson in The Shining), too boring (Abi/Jack and buffet plot). Just a complete mess. It was just crass. I did like Zainab's storyline...but not much else.

It was a great week of episodes and well acted by all involved in the explosion scenes! May was as creepy as ever and a great ending to a storyline which started last year.

I have to say that eveything was so cheesy. Killing the villan, Interupting a street party. All the same.

Yeah, I agree with you, brilliant is the good word to describe the last week. Very intense, powerful, good storylines... of course there were some blunders with Jack and Tanya's relashionship but nothing special after all.
At the end of Wednesday's 1-hour-long episode, I thought the mixses between all the scenes weren't that good but that's only at the end I understood why it has been assembled like this: the music box May has bought for Summer was playing and her weeping, distressed and singing the lullaby while we can see all the other characters and their relashionship with their daughters (Tanya with Lauren and particularly Abi, Ian without Lucy, Bianca with Tiffany, Keith with Dawn)...Then I realised how amazing it was! ![]() And I'm pretty sure that the next week will be great too, thanks in particular to Max and Bradley with Stacey. And I couldn't more agree with you, EE is the BEST soap ever on telly!

I'm going to lie somewhere between the positive and negative reviews. It was a very good ending to a storyline that couldn't finish properly. It had a brilliant contrast to current storylines between other characters - Ian/Lucy, Tanya/Abi and most of all Zainab/Shabnam (revelation).
However, Bobby Davro and Mickey ruined it for me. The union jack stuff was absolute rubbish, I don't care if it had anything to do with community spirit, it was dreadful. I don't particulary rate Mickey or the actor Joe very high, this is probably more to do with the way the character is written, but the performance wasn't anything special. It was all very unrealistic too. Although Amanda is an exceptional actress, the best that Eastenders has had in a long time, I can't help but think that she was too melodramatic. This is probably due to her history with stage acting, it can't be helped. She has toned down an awful lot from May last year though, not bellowing "I want my baby!" as low as humanly possible. The best thing about this will be the aftermath and characterisation. Zainab has assured Shabnam of her original thoughts. Keith has finally saved the day and this will effect the character from now on. Dawn will take the biggest change from this, we may finally see a settled down character who actually cares about her daughter, not leaving Summer with relatives at any chosen moment. |

It was much better than the football that it's been mucked about by all week. Perhaps we'd have gotten through the Euro qualifiers too if England had stuck Dawn's fella in goal. The save that he performed for Summer was quite spectacular. Definitely a candidate for the Walford five-a-side
![]() I thought the Branning stuff detracted from everything though, even Zainab's story, which is a shame. I found it hard keeping my attention on the better storylines when Jack and Tanya suddenly kept popping up between them and resetting my interest level to 'bored'. They never used to bother me one way or another before, but I'm beginning to think that I'd sooner just watch Tiffany sitting on the Massoods' wall. |
