The week gets off to a tense start as Vernon and Liz go to a view a bar together. It’s clear that something is amiss from the start as Vernon is mad with excitement about the prospect of buying a bar together while Liz can muster no enthusiasm at all. Things go from bad to worse once there, as the couple fail to see eye-to-eye. Vernon is convinced the bar’s a winner while Liz doesn’t seem too sure. Is there more to her reluctance than meets the eye?
Vernon is devastated when Liz finally confesses that not only does she not want to run a bar with him, but wants out of the marriage too. Completely shocked, Vernon tries to persuade her not to throw it all away but she tearfully confesses that she should never have married him. How will Vernon cope now that his dreams have been shattered?
Later, Liz feels guilty about it all but tells Michelle she knows she has done the right thing. It doesn’t take Harry long to start sniffing round Liz, but she makes it clear that she hasn’t left Vernon only to jump straight in to bed with him. But will Harry convince her otherwise?
Toward the end of the week, as Vernon prepares to leave the Rovers, Lloyd takes pity on him. He manages to persuade Vernon to bunk up with him for a while and not to leave the Rovers for good. Will Vernon be able to pick up the pieces of his life?
