Apparently, she's been given the job of presenting the new look TOTP, and putting it right back at the top of the TV charts where it belongs.

This'll be a big test for Kate. If she does a good job, her career will go stellar. I wasn't a fan last year and have only watched her on Rise during this years BB, but she's not as bad as I anticipated. Her general knowledge is dreadful and lets her down badly, but she's approachable, enthusiastic and she manages to work with Ian Lee without succumbing to physical violence. If there's one thing she's keen on it's pop and popstars, so her enthusiasm will be put to good use.

on re-reading this post, I'm probably being far too charitable!

Pull the other one!! You're her dad aren't you.

And I'm starting to suspect that swing's her mum.

.

Although, actually, Kate's mum seems lovely, so perhaps I'm wrong......

Well, it's made the papers. Perhaps you should claim a credit.

You're joking, aren't you? How hard can it be to announce who is going to mime next? Surely even Kate can cope with that?

Oh they've had a fair few bad presenters along the way. I don't think it's particularly hard but you need the right people to do this...like Jamie Theakston was great - very natural and enthusiastic about it, but still not totally OTT or completely FAWNING over anyone who happened to be on there.

That could be within Kate's grasp then, if she can up her game just a little.

I've never even watched her on RI:SE, so I've no idea what she's like. I can't imagine WHY they chose her, though...they should just get someone new and unknown. Edith was doing an okay job anyway...

Caught the repeat of TOTP earlier, looks like even Justine could do a better job at presenting.

note to BBC: this is not a suggestion.

It's a question of who you know.

Oh - I assumed this was about her arse......

Do the TOTP producers who are hiring her for her two week stint aware that she's crap?

They must be.

Its been commented on in most of the papers.

In fact its the only thing about her that's ever appeared outside of the tabloid scandal pages.

Its one way of getting a mention in the serious papers I suppose.

Open letter to Andi Peters/ Auntie B.

Dear Andi.

Please stop trying to groom reality TV stars into credible TV presenters. Sometimes it works (Anna Nolan, Brian Dowling - yes even Craig Phillips because he has a small role on TV within his specialist area and isn't the show's anchor) but they are exceptions to the rule - 90% of reality TV stars can't act or present for toffee - no matter how much money you throw at them or lucky breaks you given them.

After 13 months of telly and radio work - well, I hate to point this out Andi - but Kate Lawler has failed to develop professionalism, wit and charisma needed for a long-term career in presenting. I bet she thinks Ad-Lib is a new Boyband.

Andi, I did notice you lurking around on the final night of Big Brother 4, voicing your support for the obvious winner Cameron. I'm sure he is next on your list to be groomed as telly fodder. I won't pass judgement on Cameron yet as I haven't seen him present anything. But I have to say - although I love Reality TV because it gives ordinary people chances to get into the media spotlight - it doesn't mean we want them as TV presenters. It doesn't mean thay can, or should become presenters either just because of their tabloid profile. It worries we that there are a whole host of DJ's and presenters who are snubbed in favour of reality TV contestants when have a media profile and not a lot else. It's part of then reason that I'm falling out of love with reality TV.

Mr Peters, Top of the Pops is in enough trouble already. If you honestly, honestly think reality TV contestant Kate "I'd snogged that guy out of Blue - Wicked!/I'm Texting Gareth Gates - Love My Work!/Busted Think I'm Buff! etc etc" Lawler will rejuvinate this once brilliant music show - go ahead and hire her.

Go and watch some classic episodes of TOTP. Maybe devolution not evolution is the key. Every questioned why TOTP2 is much loved but TOTP itself is rumoured to be shifted to BBC3?

Top Of The Tops used to be a great show when presented by radio DJs who were nuts about EVERY kind of music in the top 100 - they didn''t depend on nepotism or Reality TV to get where they were. Radio gave them insight into music needed to become a TV music presenter. It doesn't need to change. Kate Lawler may know what starsign Justin Timberlake is but - be serious - she knows Jack about all the music being played and produced.

The minute TOTP was fronted by mini-skirted dullards, or nice, middle-class boys with wacky Hoxton fins was when it became Top Of The Lost-The-Plot.

So please, lets have a couple of genuine music nuts who can read an autocue to front the show. It can't be that difficult to find them. Get people for whom all aspects of music is their life work - it will put the "Top" back into "Top of the Pops" I promise.

Best regards,

Emzi.

(Still misses Jakki Brambles )

Dear Emzi

You might have some valid points, but the fact is that I'm desperate for an invite to a party at Kate's house with 20 of her mates

So she gets the job

Love

Andi

It's going to make all those that said Kate would disappear very quickly after BB3 (and that Jade would be the big winner) really sick...

Let me see...
Kate:
One year on...Signed up to present the new revamped version of Top of the Pops and a weekly Sunday radio show on Capital FM, not to mention the C4 breakfast show RI:SE...

Jade:
One year on...Last seen on TV Feb 2003 on "Celeb Driving school", where she didn't even turn up for the final on Comic Relief night and selling her story to NOW "My bloke has 2 timed me" - if she's done anything else recently on TV, I stand corrected...

Go luck Kate you've got your work cut out for you on TOTP..
But TOTP may be a loss cause,...

Not a god move by TOTP.The show was already on it's last legs.....putting that talentless airhead on will probably kill it off for good.

Kate has just had luck where her jobs have been concerned. RI:SE being a C4 product and BB being a C4/Endermol product, to make their bb3 winner look good, she got the co-presenter job and look what a shambles that has been, although I agree she is so bad she is almost watchable, if that makes sense.

The living tv entertainment stand-in spot she's had in the past and made a right botch of imo, I have also noticed Andi Peters doing, so if he has a hand in that, we know why she got that.

TOTP's, which I will admit I didn't even realise was still going, again she has got that with Andi Peters help, it remains to be seen if she can pull it off.

In Kate's case it really is a not 'what you know', but 'who you know' thing. But having said that, I do not really like Kate and think she is an awful presenter and she seems to be jumping from one sinking ship, RI:SE to another sinking ship TOTP's, if what we read is to be believed, but good luck to her if she can pull it off. I for one will not bother making up the viewing figures for whatever she appears on.

Just shows with Kate on how being in the right place at the right time, having the right look and image and a good agent can fool most of the people most of the time...

Still glad that if it had to be a BB person to get it, that it was Kate and not Jade... or our dear Cameron "If they don't sing in the way i like it I'll punch their lights out"
