Corrie Axings.... Updates *contains spoilers*
in Inside Soap, there's a suggestion that Dan Mason (played by Matthew Crompton) may not be leaving after all, although Jack Ellis (Harry) is still going. "Dan will definitely be around longer than Harry," the magazine quotes a Corrie mole, "But who knows whether he has a future in Weatherfield."
The Mortons are definitely leaving, ( )and Teresa (Karen Henthorn) is going to be central to their exit storyline. "Her impact on the family will be massive, leading to a very dramatic exit for the Mortons - and it could result in a tragic death resulting from Teresa's evil scheme." I like the bookies, I wish they were both staying. And I like Jerry and the twins, especially Darryl.

It was around the time of their introduction that it went downhill (IMO) and I stopped watching.
I'm not blaming them, but they certainly didn't help. |

I'm pretty sure Sharon on This Morning confirmed that Dan is definitely one of the characters being axed as is Veron.
She said this a couple of weeks ago,and Harry and the Mortons have been confimed by the soap mags so I think she's right about Dan as well. |

I doubt any actor would throw a hissy fit if the contract were reviewed... |

He's been good lately, interesting and different to the over acting most characters in corrie seem to suffer from.

Well IMO the charactors that need axing right away are:
1. The Mortons 2. Fizz 3. Kirk 4. Chesney 5. The Peacocks 6. Stereotype 7. Dan & Dad 8. Dev 9. Lloyd |

I think some of the characters you have listed are only on that list because of the writing atm in Corrie...Yes, the Mortons and Harry (maybe Dan) are already leaving, but characters such as Dev, Lloyd and Fiz could be rescued with a decent storyline (and possibly by toning down the acting!). I like both Ashley and Claire and think both actors are really good, but again have suffered from Steve-Frostitis and need to be backburnered for a while.
Sean/stereotype has signed a 2 year contract extension, so he's not going anywhere - but again, the character can actually be quite good in background storylines/scenarios (rather than carrying major storylines). Kirk and Chesney just need to go. Now. Can anyone think of a possible exit storyline for them? |
