My answerphone does not cut in

Can anyone help me - I have a Philips phone/answering machine which has always worked ok. I recently moved and since then the answering machine will not cut in after the designated number of rings ... it just pauses for a couple of seconds then carries on ringing. I have even bought another in case it was faulty but the same thing happens. I have contacted Philips who said to speak to BT - who have checked my line and increased the gain but to no avail. I have BT Broadband and Sky - with filters - and did not have this problem before I moved. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

Have you tried unplugging everything from the line and trying the phone in the master socket?

Have you got a new style BT master socket with a split front?

Can you remove the lower half and plug the phone directly into the test port?

Hi, thanks for the advice. Tried as you suggested but no change.
Do I need caller ID activated? (though I didn't have it at my old address and it worked ok).
