Street stars are getting set to fly to South Africa to film a Corrie spin-off.

The show will be available on DVD later in the year.

Filming begins next month but Corrie bosses are keeping exact details under wraps.

All we can say is that the film will see the return of Wendi Peters as Cilla.

Jennie McAlpine (Fiz) Andrew Whyment (Kirk) and Sam Aston (Chesney) will also star.

Itv.com will have exclusive access to behind-the-scenes filming and we'll also keep you up to date with all the latest news about the DVD so keep your eyes peeled!

ITV.COM

I certainly won't be watching. With those four characters, it sounds worse than watching paint dry... with a gun pointed at your head.
With all the sucessful corrie stars.... why oh why choose THESE ones?!!!!

Corrie have families such as..... Connors, Platts, Grimshaws, Websters.. even the Barlows.

It's barbaric that they would send the BATTERSBYS. Kirk and Chesney, the most wooden, cringeworthy double act. Fiz who shouts everything. And Cilla.

But maybe this is their exit story???? Why else would they bring Cilla back for a bit - ideal way to offload Chesney onto her at least!

more deserving ones too, people whom have actually contributed something of value to the show, sorry but whoever decided to send that group of cast really stuck two fingers up at the rest of them...All Sean Tully and Jenny McA do is moan and complain and b!tch about other soaps, I guess that deserves a reward eh?

I'm surprised they didn't let Antony Cotton tag along as well. What a god-awful line-up.

Can't say I'll be rushing out to purchase it when it's released.

I think this will be great in a cringeworthy kind of way, because I can imagine it being really really bad.

Why only on DVD though, can't it be part of some special episodes in South Africa? Have Corrie got nothing better to spend their money on?

None of them are real Battersbys though. It's not as if it's Les (*vom*) or Toyah...

Cilla is by marriage, Ches by adoption. Kirk and Fizz aren't.

Am I the only one that misses Cilla?

I'm sure the DVDs will flop.

Do it with another set of characters and it might be a different story.
A great DVD for me would be... gail and eileen... sharing a tent together. david, jason, becky, bill, audrey, sally, kevin, rosie, sophie.

If somebody asked the worst set of characters to do this with I hand-on-heart would have said the Battersbys.

Wow, I honestly thought we'd seen the last of any straight to dvd/video soap offerings! I'll wait to hear more before I judge...

Who the hell would pay money to watch Chesney, Fizz and Kirk for an hour? They get on my nerves if I see them for 30 seconds on Corrie!

Very true...and the more I think about it the more I think it will be even worse

Someone needs to sort out the nation's most popular television programme and quick!

Its not like she is/was the shows top charactor and viewers are gagging to see more. And will anyone actually buy the dvd after what happened in the 90s with the special crusie video and the outrage when it was broadcast on ITV1.

I can't believe it is going straight to dvd. I can not see them making enough money on DVD sales to make it worth while. You can probably guarantee it will be available on tv after a while like Flood was. Flood was itv produced went straight to DVD and then shown months after on tv.

Oooh they should meant up with Trevanion family from Wild at Heart.

Maybe Cilla can meet the same end as Amanda Holdens character.

It's a shame that they can't just go to another country without any cameras.
