I Need a little help, I have a Panasonic DMR-E55, when I push ANY of the buttons on the front of the unit it comes up (HOLD) in the front display.
I have left the unit unplugged overnight, however the problem still exists.
Don’t know if it makes any difference, but there is a Disc in the player.

Thanks in advance
Syd

Hi Syd.

Somehow the childlock has been activated.

Press and hold ENTER and RETURN simultaneously , until the message disappears.

I tried that, still locked, maybe time for it to visit the bin.

This unit is in Spain, a local repair guy told me to put it in the freezer over night.....did as told, plugged it back in next morning and its working fine.

Plese note: the message display showed HOLD not X Hold

That's good news.

Thanks for reporting back... and for clarifying the message.

[For those looking on and who may have a similar problem, X Hold is the message returned when the child lock is activated... which I wrongly assumed was the problem here. ]
