Returning a faulty widescreen TV
About 8 weeks ago i bought a new 28" Widescreen TV from Currys.
It was all going fine untill a few days ago. Now when im watching the TV the picture flickers once every few minutes on all channels. I think the tube may be faulty or something. Anyway, i was just wondering does anyone know what the policy is on this? Obviously being under 12 months old its still under guarantee, but what happens next? I assume i will need to box it up and take it back to Currys, but will they provide with with a new one or take the old one away to be fixed, leaving me in theory with no TV? Thanks for any info. |

You should have got a service number to phone with your receipt - the red document which the receipt is clipped to - the details are on the third page.
It may be they'll come and get it for you if it's a guarantee job and a bulky item. |

Will check what it says on the receipt, i dont really mind getting it there, i just hope they fix it quick.......hopefully they should as to me it seems like it just need a new tube or something like that. If they fix it in store and i get it back with in a week ill be happy. |

Thing is, its only a slight flicker that alot of people wont even really care about, but to me, a perfectionist when it comes to entertainment equipment, it annoyes the me ALOT. I jus hope they notice it and dont try and tell me they cant see anyting wrong with it. Maye its a bit of dust got in it or something (i have been away for a few weeks....). I just hope they fix it/give me a new one "PROMT", as it says on the guarantee they will. Its only a few weeks old!!!!! |

Its ironic.... my parents bought a 28" Widescreen TV last summer.........some unheard of japanese brand, alot cheaper than what i paid, its turned on for about 8 hours a day (about 3 times longer than i watch mine), and they have not had a problem with it yet! Sometimes i think the quality of a product is just down to luck. Oh well im off to Currys tonight, with the TV, and ill see how i get on........... |

Well it all turned out OK in the end!
I took my put the TV back in the box and returned it to Currys. They told me that for a job like this they should really make a home visit to take a look at it. But then after a bit of talking the guy (i think he may have been the manager) said that seeing as it seems like the tube is faulty and it only about 7 weeks old he would replace it with a new one.....however they had none in stock so he said to take my TV home again and he would ring when one came in. Sure enough he did and last night i took the TV back down to Currys to exchange it for a new one. Apart from the fact that i feel like ive moved the TV around my house and in and out of the car about 10 times, im very happy that they agreed to replace it.
