Do you usually go for the 'Traditional' - Roast whatever.... or do something a little different?? For me, Sunday Lunch HAS to be a Roast.......

I've lived in my flat for 6 months and have yet to cook a roast
My BF isn't a great fan for some reason so if I want a traditional Sunday lunch then I'll head ot my Mum's - which is exactly what I think I'll do on Sunday ![]() My Mum does the traditional roast almost every week bless her, but we love it!!! |

I' do a traditional roast.
It's the one time everyone will make to effort to be present and sit at the table together. |

I hate roasts but i live at home so i usually have to eat what my mum makes. When i decide that i cant be bothered to eat it i make Roasted stuffed peppers with butternut squash, sweet potatoes and sausages with a honey and cinnamon sauce.

I don't like roasts in the summer (although it's hardly summer outside at the mo!).

I only ever eat a roast dinner on Christmas Day. I find them too stodgy and bland. We usually go out for a Mexican,Thai or Caribbean for Sunday lunch. Or get the barby out.
I've never understaood the appeal of having 'meat and two veg every' Sunday. |

I love roasts but living on my own at the moment I rarely bother. When I do though I will cook a chicken or a joint of pork and then use the left overs for work lunches for a few days. Quote:

we try to have one every sunday.
Lamb or beef is the preffered choice of meat in my house. If hubby is working I will do one on the monday instead as I prefer all the family to be at the table on a sunday for a roast dinner but won't do one if it's just me and the children |

i've never cooked a roast dinner, much to my OH's horror, cos he loves them.
I just don't like them, i hate Christmas dinner for that very reason. |

Sounds stodgy to me. Joints of meat with boiled veg is my idea of food hell.

I love a roast dinner, but I hardly ever have them, because I live on my own. I sometimes do a roast chicken, because it'll last me for several meals, but I do one maybe only once every couple of months. And it would never be for Sunday lunch, always evening meal instead. And not always on a Sunday. In fact, I'm in the mood for one tonight actually.

If after you have boiled veg it is 'stodgy' then to me that would be very overdone. I prefer my veg al dente.
Apart from potatoes that is. |

We used to get up every Sunday when the kids were little and do the whole shooting match starter homemade everything including pudding now if I offer that to my sons 18 and 15 it's like what is this dont we have normal food!!!!!! so now it's quick and easy Sunday and maybe a roast through the week. No I don't make everything myself anymore time just runs away these days.

I'm not a huge roast dinner fan, I like them a couple of times a year at most and always as an evening meal - I work on Sunday until midafternoon anyway so it would be impossible earlier!
Today I was really bad and lazy and had a veggie burger from mcDonalds! |
