Seems it will hit our TV screens in three weeks time, according to one of today's Irish papers.

The most significant aspect of course is that if it is successful,it will pave the way for the first Irish Big Brother next year.According to an RTE spokesperson a fortnight ago,an Irish BB in 2004 is 'under active consideration'.

I'd like to see Colm Meaney in there. Or Dylan Moran.

As for the Nolan sisters, I didn't even realise Anna had any

What makes you so sure?

The article was quite detailed, explaining the format and saying the show will debut on RTE1 on the night of the opening Late Late Show in September.Do you have information to the contrary?

Why do I feel already..... before its even begun..... that this will be cringeworthy in the extreme......... only to be watched from under a cushion on the sofa........ with large amounts of alcohol imbibed to soften the sting of it all. Please God..... dont let RTE be available to UK viewers.......they just would not be psychologically prepared for this in any way shape or form. Just had a thought...... who are they planning on being our DAVINA!!!!!!!! And will big mouth Gerry Ryan...... be part of the line up.......oh well..... he'll come in handy if any of the sinks get blocked........ he has a gob on him like an industrial sized plunger and has never been afraid to open it.

Where did you reads this Eurostar? RTÉ has no digital paltform sot here will be no interactivity or twenty four hour coverage. Don't see how starting off with a Celebrity Version would be wise. Are endemol involved? Or is simply a silly BBlike Charity Thing RTé are running for a week or two, the wat TG4 spoofed "Survivor."

Are you sure that you are not confusing it with "Celebrity Cabin Fever" which takes place next month in ireland?
If not - where are the articles about irish celeb big bro?

LOL! Prepare for a clash of egos to say the least.I imagine it will make for cringeworthy TV as you say.....some very inflated egos on display.Could be quite entertaining though if some of the 'celebrities' self destruct on air,a la Vanessa Feltz and Anthea Turner

In yesterday's 'Irish Star' Michael. They seemed pretty emphatic the show will air in three weeks time......however I got the impression it will ba an RTE production and not a direct copy of the C4 Celebrity BB.

But by all accounts an Irish Endemol BB is 'under consideration' for 2004.

Why hasn't Ireland had one yet? Are RTE still riddled with too much Eurovision-hosting debt to be able to afford it?

Cost has to be the factor, yes.I imagine the expense of 'creating' a Big Brother house and the actual production costs are prohibitive.

Cripes if all the Nolan sisters were in there it wouldn't leave room for anyone else!

Why do RTE seem to always latch onto a dying format? Examples include 'WWTBAM' and 'Treasure Island'.
Its three years too late. BTW, why don't they dream up a few ideas of their own?
