That's a shame

Is she not working with TSOM anyway, though?

a better word would be closes instead of finishes. it didn't even have a chance.

i call - Lost in Translation on this.

the same thing happened with Boeing Boeing in the 60s. was open forever in London to acclaim and awards and closed immediately in New York... it just didn't work in America. now... 40 years later it was nominated for Tony Awards and is very popular. critics are vile, i liked stuff critics didn't care for. i could be a critic ffs and get paid for it. what makes a critic a critic? it's an opinion.

happens
Amy will get back up there.

Aww, that's a shame.

Oh well, this was only a starting point for Amy. I'm sure there's something else out there for her!

Critics suck. They have a oppinion on everything. Well that is their job I guess.
Poor Amy. I hope she gets something else

I agree a better word would be closes.

From the articles I've read so far the show had poor reviews but Amy's performance was looked upon quite favourably.

I'm sure it won't be long before she's back on a WE stage.

Just had a quick search for the reviews on google - they're absolutely awful! Poor Amy. She has had a strange run of luck this year - picked for the final twelve Nancys only to get booted out first, getting a lead in a west end show only for it to close after four days. I hope something decent happens for her soon.

Awwww. I actualy feel really sorry for her. She must have worked so hard.
It must be a terribly horrible experience in some ways.

A reviewer for The Telegraph said:

'Amy Booth-Steel, one of the rejected Nancies on the television show I'd Do Anything, plays a lesbian artist who has to utter unspeakable lines like "I never thought I'd meet a man who understands the vulvic region."

After her failure on the BBC talent show and now this humiliation by cruel and unusual farce, one's heart goes out to a woman who has suffered more than enough for her art.'

That's sad But at least , as has already been said, it is the play being criticised and not her. Going by that line it sounds like maybe she's better off out of it anyway!! :P

Hopefully she'll find something better soon!

I thought Amy was going into the ensemble of the Sound of Music? I'm sure I've heard that somewhere, though perhaps not for a few months because obviously she was supposed to be in All Bob's Women for ten weeks.

It's a shame it's closed so soon, just goes to show the power of the critics I suppose. I feel for the cast (a very talented bunch of girls) and crew though who have worked hard on the show and then had it closed down so soon.

do you know how many actors this happens to on Broadway or in the WE or anywhere a show doesn't work? a lot. Amy will be fine and she is probably aware this can happen.

Wicked was panned in NY and had rumours of closing the first week, but the audiences loved it, thank goodeness.

here's to your next show Amy!

What a shame. Didn't I read/hear something about the show being performed at the Edinburgh fringe next month?

No need to worry about Amy -she said on the Stage podcast that she start rehearsals soon for The Sound of Music. She's got a year's contract and will be covering 4 different roles, starting in August.

I think the problem with Boeing Boeing in the US in the 60s was that it was too contemporary. Since they mock the American TWA stewardess in the play.

Now, though there is an air of nostalgia as TWA doesn't even exist anymore. So you can laugh at them (Americans from the 50s) without being offended and thinking (Hey, wait they are mocking me).
