Who do you think was the best singer out of HDYSAPLM and I'd do anything.

Well, I guess after we get past technical competency, issues like tone and phrasing come down to personal opinion. I think Daniel has a gorgeous voice. Here's a taster for anyone who's interested. The camera work is a bit weird though.

I struggled to warm to Keith, so perhaps I'm not being very charitable towards his voice. I did feel on the programme that he was much better suited to being a recording artist than a MT performer as the other aspects of his performance were a bit lacking.

Keith's voice was excellent but he had the all the stage presence of a cabbage.

He couldn't act or dance on ADWD (the Siobhan of ADWD!), and it would seem from his performance with the Nancys that he hasn't improved in the dancing field in the intervening period.

I could listen to him for hours - but he's still painful to watch!

Got to agree with you on this one. I saw Daniel, Ben and Keith support John Barrowman and it was a bit like this:-

Daniel - Best Voice
Ben - Best moves (oh those hips!!!)
Keith - oooh was he there I was watching the other two.

The reason why I put Ben in my list of the best singers on ADWD by the way is because his voice is getting better all the time and plus he's only 19 so his voice will mature as he gets older. And as for Daniel, last night on Songs On Praise when he sang Bring Him Home, his voice has such a pure quality to it, but it also has a gorgeous soulful edge to it, and by the way as well, on ADWD, one of the judges, Bill Kenwright said that Daniel had by far and away the best voice in the competition, and that was in WEEK 1 he said that!!!

Personally I think they were able to do this in Maria because Connie was up to it. If they had done it in IDA ALw's favourites Jessie and Sam would have been left far behind the likes of Sarah, Rachel and Fran.”

Sam could move. Jodie and Jessie needed lots more work. Agree it would have been a problem if they had to dance alongside people with years of training. Maria had Helena who was positively balletic, Abi who could sell a routine and Aoife who was good enough to go into Chicago and dance there as well as connie who could cope with the SOM.

it may have just reflected the bigger point though that the Maria's on what we saw were a lot more capable/more trained. We didn't really get to see what Francesca or Sarah could do in the acting stakes as they didn't get very appropriate songs or video edits but acting ability on Nancy was a lot less visible. Aoife's little clip from the SOM has more acting going on as she stays in role saying nothing as the mother superior sings than anyone managed in weeks of I'do Anything . Her eyes are telling the story not looking like she is thinking of her shopping list (several Nancys) and unlike Helena and Connie on Maria or a majority of people on Nancy she doesn't overact or pull faces.

Sam could move but I doubt whether she could move and sing at the same time. Especially if it was a MT number.

I think your bigger point is right. I couldn't believe how many MT or film musical numbers each Maria perform. Sarah and Rachel had one musical number each and it was far and away there best performance. But neither was given as complicated a dance routine as Abi or Helena did when they had the same songs. I find it hard to believe it because the girls weren't up to it. I think if they had been given MT songs with full dance routine the final would have been Sarah, Rachel and one other. Jessie and Sam in particular wouldn't have stood a chance. Jessie's lack of movement would have been shown up, as would Sam's vocal weakness.

I would have loved to have seen how Jodie would have compared given a MT song with a big dance routine. She could sing and dance, but we were never shown if she could do it all together. I think she could but we don't actually know!
