I got a block of wrapped Dewlay tradition Lancashire cheese a day or two ago. It is still wrapped - but there are various green patches on the cheese where it has been handled by the packer in the store. I suppose I could cut off the portions where this gross person has mauled the cheese but I rather think it will go in the bin.
That will put me off buying anything prepared on the Asda premises for quite a while I think. I thought it was standard practice to handle food with disposable gloves or to use a wrapping sheet to pick it up - it ain't rocket science FFS. I've got enough germs of my own, thank you.
Reminds me of an old chap they used to employ in Booth's deli. He got the wrapper in one hand, but instead of picking up the cheese with it would use his other hand to plonk it into the film. I'd lurk until he was busy serving someone else then get another assistant to get my request.
Just felt like a rant.
