T-Mobile has ramped up its mobile broadband platform, claiming to be the first operator to offer nationwide High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA).

HSUPA will enable users to upload data at speeds of to 1.4Mbps, around five times that of current mobile upload speeds.

The growing adoption of mobile social networks is driving user demand to upload images and other content directly from their mobile phones, T-Mobile said.

The operator has also upgraded the underlying download capability of the HSDPA-enabled 3G network to 7.2Mbps, initially within the M25 but rolling out to other major cities during the second half of 2008.

This upgrade should give most customers in those areas real maximum mobile broadband speeds of up to 4.5Mbps.

T-Mobile has also launched a new online mobile broadband checker which allows users to verify coverage for a specific postcode.

"Mobile broadband has come of age. Today, 25 per cent of new contract customers are signing up and we expect to quadruple our user base in 2008," said Jim Hyde, chief executive of T-Mobile UK.

"We knew mobile broadband would burst on the scene and our continued investment in new technology is paying dividends for customers seeking a fast, consistent service which offers great value."

Recent research from analyst firm Point Topic has shown that mobile internet adoption is still relatively low.

I thought it was pretty good actually. Funny enough I popped into an Orange store today to get their July book and I was interested to look at their tariff refresh.
Looking at the offerings from the #4 network (T-Mobile) and the #3 network (Orange) I don't think it will be too long before TMO overtake the Frenchies!

They could well do.

Yet to think, T-Mobile (One2One) launched before Orange, they however let Orange overtake them.

The guarantee only applies to the Solo 30 and Combi 30 tariffs.

yeah i know tht, when i take calls at customer service there doesnt seem to be many people on combi or solo 30 plans, they flext's plans seem the most popular plans at the moment but the combi plan's do seem quite good tho!

The combi plans seem to be pretty popular in retail. 700 mins and unlimited texts (and web & walk on selected handsets) for £30 is a very good deal!

There is apparently a fairly big north/south split regarding combi. The north is selling it and the south isnt. In my store and in our area we give people the options and they just always go for flext. The odd combi sold is on the basis that the customer does a lot of texts so the unlimited option is good for them.

Im not that fussed though. As i told my area manager a couple of weeks ago. I did the weeks postpay target and didnt sell one combi or solo that week.

I have have to admit that i love the flext as i spend it how i like to but i kinda like the combi aswell. Every time i tell customers when they ring up to change the price plan over i advise them of the combi but the rather stick with the flext like.

Maybe the word isnt getting out bout the combi plans but hopefully soon!

Combi and Solo are outdoing Flext on the calls we take at the moment, well thats the reason we have been given for the much higher call volumes!
