Red Bull Cola
After looking in many supermarkets and grocery shops in the last few weeks,I finally found and drank a can of this today.
http://www.redbull.co.uk/#page=Cola For those of you that don't know, it is Red Bull's answer to Coke and Pepsi with a natural cola featuring the Kola nut and coca leaf as ingredients. Now I drink Pepsi or Coke on a near daily basis and have been doing so for many years, so I know what I like. But I didn't like this. I found it tasted of cheap Panda Pops cola. I don't drink alcohol and don't like any malty type drinks and found this cola had a malty like aftertaste (similar to the Swedish drink Julmust). There was a particular taste in there that I couldn't put my finger on but it might be liquorice, which I also don't like. It made me feel strange after drinking and that might be the coffee based caffeine they use (which is more than is in Coke) as coffee gives me headaches or the fact that it is more caffeine than usual. (I've also tried Pepsi's natural cola Raw -only available in pubs- which also tastes of cheap cola but is far better than Red Bull's -wish they sold it in shops.) The cola comes in a tall can which fools you into thinking it's much more than a normal can of Coke (it's not as it's only 355ml compared to 330ml). It cost me £1.29 which I suppose is fair enough for a petrol station. I've read on another forum that the are no plans for the major supermarket chains to stock this. If that's true then I can't see this going anywhere. If Coca Cola had released this as their drink 100 years ago, then they would simply not had the success that they have. |

Dont know WHY people buy Red Bull. Its a rip off at around a £1 a can. Tescos Kick is 26p and does EXACTLY the same job

There was a particular taste in there that I couldn't put my finger on but it might be liquorice, which I also don't like. I prefer a Cola that has a more malty flavour than 'Coke' or 'Pepsi' I much prefer Virgin Cola to the 'big two' because of that faint malty taste, which comes through even better when it goes a little flat. (For me, Coke and Pepsi are undrinkable if flat) I also like lquorice. So I have a feeling that I'll like the Red-Bull stuff 'Horses for courses' I suppose. Did you notice the Caffeine and Taurine content? Is it supposed to have the same stimulation effect as normal Red-Bull? Or is it suposed to be simply an alternative Cola? |

![]() Lately though, I tend to get the orange-canned variant of 'Relentless' if I get a stimulant drink. Love the sherbert-like taste

I didn't chek the caffeine content but it doesn't have any taurine as it is not the same as Red Bull. It is a cola made by Red Bull rather than being a mixture of Red Bull and cola. It is not supposed to have the stimulation effect as Red Bull. It is just a natural (and I suppose posh) alternative to Coke and Pepsi. Does anyone remember another alternative cola called Altu? What ever happened to that? Can you still buy Organic Cola that comes in silver cans? Can't remember who makes it though. |

I think their cola was a fruit juice with some cola nuts or something added, I think Applejuice was one of the main ingredients! I've not heard of red bull cola, but I remember spending part of my youth looking for the near mythical jump cola, that was supposed to be high caffeine. I would expect red bull cola to have taurine in it! I have just bought a tonne of coke at Asda where its 16 cans for £3, and also have tonnes of pepsi in from Lidl, where it is cheap. I had tried to give up cola, but I keep going back ! But I agree with Shackfan, Tesco's, or even Aldi's own red bull is good enough. When you realise how much cash it takes to run and F1 team, you know you're getting ripped off big time on a tin of pop with Red Bull! I don't suppose I'll find their cola, it will be like jump - which I never tracked down They'll probably never make much of an impact, just hover around like Virgin Cola.

Being a glutton (ho-hum!) for punishment, I bought another can today to give it a second chance.
Yes it still tastes like Panda Pops with a bitter aftertaste of liquorice and/or coffee, but I suppose it's not as bad as I originally thought. If you like sweet syrupy drinks (which I do) such as root beer, Dr Pepper or Coke/Pepsi you probably won't enjoy it that much. However, if you enjoy bitter, teeth-on-edge drinks like ginger beer or Dandelion & Burrock then give it a go. |

Went to Tesco this morning and they had a big advert for it outside the door.
Inside the store they didn't have a drop of it! (or any sign of it ever having sat on a shelf).

Bought my THIRD can today in as many days!
It does taste better when it is actually cold. Esso are doing a special offer of £1 per can. |

I'll try this maybe as I'm curious. Hate Red Bull and it's too expensive so buy Tesco diet Kick usually.

Boingo what are you doing to yourself??? This drink is horrid! At first it tastes OK and then as you drink more and more of the can it tastes worse and worse.

Still prefer Pepsi Raw though.

Personally I like it, but then I'm not a prolific cola drinker so I'm not biased towards coke and Pepsi.
