just go to the menu button on the remote and untick all the top up tv services, which then frees up all the hard drive space.
After pressing menu,go to option 5,which is titled customise TUTV anytime.
I don't know if it's possible to completely disable top up tv,but with everything unticked it's not running anyway.
Usb port is of no use at all at the moment.

Welcome to DS briskem

No it's not possible to get Top Up TV off your Thomson DTI-6300 Top Up TV DTR....as it's primarily designed for Top Up TV Anytime. Hence the Top Up TV button on the remote.
That's abit like saying can I get Sky off my Sky+ device.

The USB port can be used to power USB devices...like phone chargers, lava lamps etc....
The data side isn't used

This box is certainly not primarily a TopUp TV box.

It is a combined device for Freeview/TopUp Anytime. Two seperate services.

It is primarily a Top Up TV Anytime box....hence the support and engineering performed by TUTV staff....and the fact that Top Up TV is plastered everywhere over the menus and packaging....otherwise it would purely say that it was Thomson Freeview DTR, with the option of subscribing to Top Up TV. Top Up TV chose this as their one and only box for Top Up TV Anytime

It is confusing but I think the 14 day epg used to be provided by 4TV. However the channels and programmes were the same as Freeview's, and so this distinction was never very obvious and the service was generally assumed to be the 'Freeview' one (which provides only a 7 day epg)

Anyway I think TUTV eventually took over the rights and responsibility (via Beko?) for the epg (originally belonging to 4TV) and licenses Ch5 to transmit the data, including software updates and Top-Up-TV services for TUTV boxes.

Now there may not be any currently manufactured boxes which use TUTV's 14 day epg (update of the old '4TV') service on its own, without access to Top-Up-TV, but if they did I think they would still be using the TUTV service - just like a DTI without a TUTV card
