Why is my mobile sending texts more than once -ie. 5 times?
Today have been sending texts to a Vodaphone (from my Orange) and the text has apparently been sent 5 times and shows no signs of stopping. I am certain I only sent it once. Any ideas why my friend keeps receiving the same text!?

I have never had mine sent 5 times, but I do sometimes have them sent twice for no aparent reason. I would be interested in seeing too why this happens.

I too have been experiencing multiple sms's.
Messages I've sent from my O2 phone have arrived 5-6 times on my friends Vodafone mobiles today. I'm guessing its a Vodafone problem. |

I think you need to distinguish between the text being received multiple times but sent once and the text being sent multiple times.
The former is a network problem the latter is an handset issue. On most phones, it is easy to see if the message is being sent more than once. |

Basically, whats happening is the phone isnt getting a "Message recieved" signal from the network. Whether or not its the phone, or the network, we don't know yet.
Try putting the SIM card into another phone, and see if you still have the same issue. |

As I said in my previous post we don't yet know whether the phone is sending the text once and then the destination network message centre is delivering multiple times; or the phone is sending multiple times.
So we can't say that the phone is not receiving the "Message Received" signal, as you put it. Only the OP can sort this out by describing the behaviour of his phone. |
