I think that Russell T Davied made the ending that HE wanted tonight. He wanted to leave the show end it with things HE wouldve liked to see. This way he wouldve felt liek he achieved somethign as long as he is happy, he can leave the show happily. I think it is good he done it this way because altho he mite have felt like he achieved something with the whole of england loving it, i think he wouldve felt liek he achieved more if he enjoyed it.
I for one LOVED tonights episode and im sure a good few million would back me up on this. So he has made a huge achievement. tonight epiusode was great. I absolutely loved every single minute of it. I thought it was brilliant. By making an episode he wanted, and with loads loving it as well, he made the biggest achievement he could have ever made.
though i do have some kinda criticisms, i think they can just be ignored because the episode was that good i just dont think theyre worht bringing up. It was an excellent show and neone who didnt like it, i think u shoudl go an dshow u can make a better one because writing a script that makes provisions for everyone is almost impossible, and ok you ahve an hour to answer everything , how is that easy without rushing the show a bit??? I think you shoudl all stop thinking about yourselves for a bit and think about how good the show was with the time limit etc!

WELL DONE RUSSELL AND DAVID TENNANT AND ALL AT DOCTOR WHO !!!

I know. I mean every one should be lucky they can see this kind of thing on television. If they expect absolute perfect shows then they should go to sleep and dream of it because you cant have the perfect episode. there is always going to be something in an episode that could have probably been improved but given the time that they had, i think everyone at doctor who did the best job they could have done!

now let's see what's wrong with this? He ISNT making it for him, he's making it for the millions of fans that were short changed. Shortcuts and stupid loopholes that never fulfilled what was promised throughout the series. If RTD wanted to make a program that everything involved was what he wanted, then he should've kept it in his head. I for one was VERY VERY disappointed and as a fan - the people he's MAKING IT FOR FOR GOD'S SAKE!!! - i feel let down, among with others.
So keep your message and RTD can keep his so called selfish streak because in the end, it was disappointing end. of. story.

I didn't feel short changed, and it seems niether did the OP....or do we not count as fans....
Don't get me wrong I know what you mean...its important that the episode is written so the viewer can enjoy it, but in all truth what one viewer wants isn't gonna be the same as another viewer...So no matter how hard RTD tries he will never be able to please every fan...and as the writer, he has his own vision about how the story was going to be and so on, just like some people, not all, were dissappointed because the story didn't go their way...take the regeneration scene...for some that was a hope of seeing a new Doctor, but for RTD it was a plot device to create two Doctors to complete the three-fold prophecy that he himself had written...and that worked for me...and it seems it also worked for a few others...so can we make the claim that RTD wrote for us??? No we can't...he had a story in his mind, and some themes which he knew were going to please some people...and by his interviews it always seems that it is the kids in the playground that he really wants to impress...and if the adults are also impressed..then that is a plus point...so you can say that it is written for fans, but not all fans, because as shocking it may seem we are all different, and always want different things...

Please don't be offended...just giving my opinion

I know he isnt making it for himself, and that he is making it probably more for the viewers, but he has made so many great episodes already for the viewers, and for the last show of the series he is writing for, he perhaps wanted to make something that he thought would satisfy himself and the viewrs.and crazzyaz7 is right, not every viewer is going to like it. Im just putting my point across to all the viedwers who are criticising it for not being perfect, that a perfect episode can never be made. I know he is writing the four specials next year, but tonites episode was the last of a whole proper series and he made an episode that the majority of viewers would enjoy. I dont think we will ever know truly if the majority of viewers did enjoy the episode, but i for one think he did a great job and absolutely LOVED the episode! Ok people might have their own opinions, but im jsut putting across my opinion and hope people will listen!

That's fine and dandy. We're all using a Discussion Forum, after all.

However, it's never a good idea to accuse people of hatred when they merely disagree with you. If your opening gambit is to shout "haters" at people, you have already decided to close the discussion before it can begin.

I wish DS members would refrain from using that utterly hateful word. Do these people really believe that CRITICISM = HATRED?

I do think the people who didn't enjoy it, where the people who where like "Donna's the master" "Donna's the rani" etc, obv, what happened was going to be a let down to them.

Personally I loved the episode and thought it was a fitting finale. My only objection is that I didn't like Donna's finish. As a character she grew and matured during S4, even sacrificing her life in 'Turn Left', and to have it all snuffed out for her in the blink of an eye was unfair. I know she wasn't dead, but I just didn't like her fate. Maybe at some point in the future the Doctor can get around the human/timelord hybrid problem, and she can make a guest appearance.

Remember RTD isn't leaving yet! He's still in charge for all of the specials next year.

Few things to think and comments regarding those disapointed

- Firstly those who hated/disapointed where proberly expecting too much (ie more on rose)
- The episode was great and a good finish

- Reason for alot in the episode - If he is finishing and not doing any more episodes (aprt from the 3 specials) then it would be right to bring it all together and end it the way he did by answering Questions and other stuff.
- The above also leaves (since no one has taken over the role of creater) any other producer/writer to start fresh and not have to link.

general a well finish for both him and the show. If you went with expectations high yea disopointing.

he did say its now back to where it started - one man time traveller

I'm not an RTD fan but the last four episodes were fantastic, IMHO.

I'm just really happy that we've still got the Tennant for a bit longer .
