some good news about the ground: Quote:
Croydon Council has pledged to uphold its planning policies to safeguard Selhurst Park as a football ground. link
The move has been made to ensure that the administrators and creditors involved with the future of Crystal Palace Football Club fully understand the planning limitations when considering any sale. The current planning policy states: The council will not permit development at Selhurst Park stadium that would prejudice its continued use as a Premier or Football League football stadium, unless an alternative stadium that meets the required standards can be built within or close to the borough. The reasoning behind the policy, says the council, is that the presence of the club within Croydon brings many economic, social and cultural benefits and it is therefore important to protect the facilities considered necessary for its retention. Only if a new stadium could be provided elsewhere would redevelopment be considered. Even then, though, the council would require it to be in or close to Croydon in order to retain the historic link between Palace and the borough. And if a new owner were to build Palace a new ground the council would expect an area of space equivalent to the size of the pitch to be retained as Local Open Land. Cabinet member for planning and conservation, Councillor Jason Perry, said: "Because Crystal Palace is so important to our borough the council wants to do everything in its powers to ensure the future existence of the club at Selhurst Park. Our existing planning policies restrict the use of Selhurst Park and policy that's emerging through the new local development framework will offer at very least the same level of protection. "The council wants to make it clear to anyone considering a financial stake in the club that the future of the ground is non-negotiable. As far as the council is concerned, Selhurst Park is a sports venue and it will remain that way. It's not a plot of land that someone can buy and then seek to turn into a housing estate. I hope this sends a very clear message that the council wants to encourage only serious bidders who have the long term interests of Crystal Palace Football Club uppermost in mind." |

^ Good 'ol Croydon Council. They've always been good supporters of Palace unlike Bromley Council.
There was talk earlier today that Lloyds Bank had taken over ownership of Selhurst Park as part of the debt owed to them by Rock Investments. However, PriceWaterhouseCoopers have denied this. They said they are unaware of any such deal and that they were still in discussions with Palace's administrators The P&A Partnership. |

its being reported on some Palace sites that two parties are
requesting exclusivity into Palace's accounts. Probably the Parish Consortium is one of them (fingers crossed) |

a little bit more good news: Quote:
CRYSTAL Palace's players have agreed to put their bonus payments on ice - but have had a guarantee that their salaries will be paid on time in the future. link
Brendan Guilfoyle, the administrator in charge of running the club, met PFA representative Nick Cusack today to discuss a delay on the payments. Palace pay their bonuses at the end of a season - and the fact that the playing squad have agreed to wait means that the club will now be able to fulfill its fixtures for the remainder of the campaign. Guilfoyle told the South London Press: "The PFA were favourable to the players' bonuses being put on hold. Their wages from now on will be paid on time. "It means we can complete our fixtures." |

hi paulo. he wasn't bad. he worked his socks off but was just unlucky in front of goal. he did score a perfectly good goal against bristol city, the one that went in the net, hit the stantion and came back out and then the ref & linesman gave no goal. i reckon if that had counted it would have given his confidence a huge lift and he would have gone on to score many more for us.

I was in the Holte End that day. Still, the best game I've ever seen and one of the great days of my life. Never have I celebrated goal as crazily as I did when Mark Bright equalised. By the time Pardew scored I was so shattered both physically and mentally I could barely jump up! The whole day was magical and will live with me forever. Frightening that its been 20 years!

I was far too young for any memories of it myself. Although I was recently shown a photo, of me as a 3 year-old decked out in the red & blue for cup final day.

There is one change in the starting XI who lost to Swansea on Tuesday night, with Claude Davis replacing a cup tied Lee Hills. Matt Lawrence has recovered sufficiently from his hamstring strain to take a place on the bench, while goalkeeper Charlie Mann is also included in the seven substitutes.
Palace: 1. Julian Speroni, 2. Nathaniel Clyne, 3. Clint Hill, 4. Shaun Derry, 7. Darren Ambrose, 8. Neil Danns, 10. Nick Carle , 19. Alan Lee, 20. Danny Butterfield, 22. Johnny Ertl, 24. Claude Davis Subs: 14. Sean Scannell, 17. Matt Lawrence,18. Calvin Andrew, 21. Kieran Djilali, 33. Alassane N'Diaye, 34. Alex Wynter, 35. Charlie Mann |

1-1 at half time. we've done quite well so far. still think its going to have
to be a monumental effort from us in the second half especially when you look at that villa line-up. |

so, so close. ambrose goal was fantastic.
we gave the ball away a bit too much in the last 10 minutes but you can't fault the players, they gave everything again. be interesting to see what kind of side o'neill puts out for the replay with the carling cup final only 5 days later. |

just seen the replays for villa's equaliser and it wasn't even a corner!
it hit a villa player last and should have been a goal kick. quarter-final draw and its an away tie to reading or west brom if we get past villa. |

well done to the lads. that was a great performance. all of them played their part but i thought ertl was awesome. the atmosphere was great, it was nice to see the ground virtually full for a change (well, at least 3 sides of it anyway)
ambrose goal was amazing. what a strike! i felt we had done enough to hold on but credit to villa for going for it til the end. it definitely wasn't a corner, though, that was clear from where i was in the ground so i don't know how both the ref & linesman missed it. o'neill has a bit of a dilemma now, does he rest his main players in the replay so close to a cup final? |

Another brilliant cup performance from us. Gutted we couldn't hold on for those last few minutes but we gave it everything. Our midfield in particular was terrific. Loved the atmosphere throughout, it was great to see Selhurst bouncing like that again. I reckon we'll take a fair few up to Villa Park for the replay.
As for Ambrose goal, what can be said, it was just sensational. Had me going mental! |

Feel robbed after that but thats life being a Palace fan I spose.
I was sat about 15 yards away from the goal and it was so obvious that it was off the Villa player that I still cant believe the decision. Still premier league ref and linesman, what else can you expect.

Brilliant day! So frustrating to finish like that, but would have taken a draw before the game.
The replay should be fun too.

Can I just congratulate your club and your supporters for putting on a wonderful match, well done.
Many clubs might have tried to defend against a higher club, but you attacked them, and fully deserved at least a draw. The only consolation is, that financially a draw was possibly the best result for the club, (I would have thought anyway), I hope that you do yourselves justice in the reply. |
