Cheers, Batdude. Much obliged.

Financially we would have definitely taken the replay beforehand. The only worry is we have alot of games coming up now and with such a small squad its going to take its toll. And while the cup run is great our priority has to be to remain in the Championship.

That said, going up to Villa Park will be brilliant and I'm sure we'll give it a damn good go. And its virtually the 20th anniversary of our greatest ever cup showing at the same ground. Its fate!

not sure about all this furore over villa's second goal, especially from warnock. it was clearly a goal-kick instead of a corner but butterfields first goal against wolves was never a corner, also.

the amount of games we have coming up now is going to be a worry. its surely time for the likes of scannell, dijali, andrew and john to be given runouts.

back to the villa replay and we have been given 6500 tickets for the game.

What a day that was. Nice to see the positive comments about Palace in the papers and from such as batdude.

No news yet as to whether the replay is going to be televised. I think on the night in question ITV1 are showing the Inter v Chelsea match in the Champions League so at best it would be on ITV4.

Warnock has been asked to explain to the FA his comments made in the wake of the 2-2 draw against Villa.

According to the Palace website the replay will not have live coverage on ITV.

However, that doesn't mean it won't be selected for coverage on FA.com. No news on that yet either way.

Yep. Massive game. We don't have a particularly good record against Reading at Selhurst in recent years. We've only beaten them once there in their last 9 visits!

These rumours about Warnock going to QPR are getting stronger by the day. No official approach from them but its reckoned there will be once the Villa replay is out the way.

Lothar Mattheus and Alan Curbishley both being linked to that job also.

the administrator met with PwC, those on control of Selhurst, yesterday.

Quote:
“BRENDAN Guilfoyle believes the sale of Crystal Palace has taken a significant step forward after a successful meeting with the administrators in control of Selhurst Park yesterday.

The complicated issue of ownership of the ground has been the main stumbling block in attracting potential buyers since Guilfoyle was appointed to run the club on behalf of the P & A Partnership.

It was feared that any interested parties would be out off if the option of buying the freehold of Selhurst Park was not part of any package.

However, Guilfoyle met with Laurie Manson of Pricewaterhouse Coopers to discuss the best way forward for both parties and is now feeling much more confident of a successful outcome.

"It was an excellent, constructive meeting," he said. "I am confident that their preferred route is now to sell the ground, which is what we want.

"They are getting it valued in the next few days. The ideal situation for us now is to find the buyer, they can then settle with the creditors and then talk to PWC about the ground."

Guilfoyle was also optimistic that while the club were still leasing the ground from PWC a more reasonable rent can be agreed on.

"We are hoping to fix a commercial rent on the ground rather than the inflated one that is currently in place," he added.”

Does sound promising but the problem I have is that there is no mention that any reduction has been agreed on (only him being optimistic) the current rent so that is still having to be paid at £1.2m.

Plus, alot will depend on this valuation of the ground. It could decide everything for any potential party interested in the club (primarily the Parish consortium)

One change from Sunday's 2-2 draw against Aston Villa as Alan Lee is replaced by Calvin Andrew up front. On the bench Lee Hills is given a substitute's spot after returning from being cup tied.

Subs: 14. Sean Scannell, 15. Lee Hills, 17. Matt Lawrence, 19. Alan Lee, 21. Kieran Djilali, 33. Alassane N'Diaye, 35. Charlie Mann

Bit surprised to only see one change being made. Lee must be knackered after his recent exploits and probably deserves a break. Be good to see what Andrew can do with the start. Had hoped Scannell would start this one.
-Bandit-
17-02-2010
i thought scannell would have started, too. no stern john in the squad at all, wonder whats going on there?

1-0 down. And we had started brightly.

we really can't be losing this game. we need a draw at least.

Scannell has come on for Danns just a couple of minutes before half-time.

its half-time. 1-0 to reading. huge 45 minutes coming up for us.

2-1. scannell scores. we're back in it.

17-02-2010
We desperately need this equaliser. N'Diaye is now on for Carle.
-Bandit-

3-1 reading. that's us done for.

Full-Time: Palace 1-3 Reading

We're only out of the bottom 3 on goal difference now. This is getting way too tense.
-Bandit-
17-02-2010
seen the goals. our defending was poor. all these games in succession are taking their toll. it wouldn't be a bad thing if we lose to villa next week so we can just concentrate on the league.
Tusk0312
17-02-2010
terrible result. our defending for all the goals was awful.
i completely agree that all these games is taking its toll
on our small squad. i'm not worried yet as there are still 16
games left and i think we'll have enough to pull away from it
but it does look like more and more as if the cup run is
now a hindrance we can do without.

Dreadful defending, particularly the centre backs.

Oh and the ref was last seen buying his Reading season ticket so I hear.

We really need to improve for Saturday. Huge game!
