When someone who obviously has been a major player and controversial figure speaks about a club you know nothing about really I like to hear frim true fans of that club to find out what the real situation is - so can any of you here help me out?

Perhaps you could give me a generalised view too by not only saying what you yourself think but also how Palace fans in general see Jordan and the situation the club is in now - I always hate it when a club is low in the league or even relegated due to matters off the field rather than results on it and it seems to me from a distance that you as Palace fans have had a real bad time due to matters completely out of your control - sad for you (honestly)”

Let's see, to start off with, the two main reasons we are in administration and the mess we're now in are Simon Jordan and a hostile creditor (Agilo). To Jordan's credit he had been trying to bring in investment for the club for ages but his big mistake was to turn to Agilo who specialises in ploughing money into “distressed companies” in an attempt to turn them round and secure a profit. We owed them £4.5m which Jordan claims was about to be paid back. However, when Agilo found out that HMRC would receive £2m ahead of them being paid back they forced us into administration so they could jump to the top of the club’s creditor queue.

Perhaps the biggest reason we were in debt in the first place was all down to Jordan. Back in 2006 he announced that he had purchased the freehold to Selhurst Park from Ron Noades for £12m, but it later transpired that the freehold had been bought by the company Selhurst Park Limited, which was owned by another company and that Jordan was paying a staggering £1.2m for rent (4 times what it was before under Noades) This had been crippling us ever since. The company that owned Selhurst then went into administration themselves and its now owned by Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

The majority of Palace fans (at least it seems to me) blame Jordan and don't think too kindly of him anymore. Some (including me) appreciate the hard work he put into the club for years but it's his mistakes and foolishness that put him in the position to turn to Agilo in the first place, something which should have never happened, especially if he didn't screw up the ownership of the ground.

He's also one of these blokes who tends to try and lay the blame at other parties instead of accepting blame himself. And this was a big reason as to why he couldn't get investment into the club - no one trusted him or liked him. Now, with him gone these potential investors are stepping forward.

As you mention the biggest sickener in all this is how despite all these off the field problems we were doing extremely well on the pitch and even pushing for a play-off spot. Now, because of the points deduction we are staring relegation into the third tier for the first time in 33 years right in the face.

whereas i can be grateful to jordan for saving the club from the goldberg debacle i still think the guy is a bit of a tosser. he is also a liar. he lied to the fans about the purchase of the freehold of selhurst and the whole deal behind that has virtually led us to the debts of today.

he did his best to rile so many people with his opinions & views and it backfired badly as no one wanted to invest in palace because of him. i'm glad he has gone.

one thing i will say in his defence is that it was ron noades that seperated the club from the ground which should never, ever have happened, so i'm not too happy about him being possibly part of any consortium again.

Noades and Goldberg started the mess by Noades selling the club and not the ground and Goldberg not evening knowing what he was buying. Goldberg is now the manager of Bromley Town FC, doing ok there at moment in midtable after a few dropped points the past few games.

Heard some rumours about Jordan that what he has been doing over the years is slowly taking back the £20 million he has put into the club. He has now got that back and so can walk away having lost no money and he doesn't care any more.

He almost made some great buys but his refusal to deal with agents and then blacklist them led to where we are today.

I do wonder if this deal falls through can we even start next season

Worst case scenario, no. We will be liquidated in the summer after all assets including the academy are sold off.

However, what is also a possibilty is that the likes of Danns, Speroni, Ambrose & Clyne will be sold, plus all out of contract players will be free to go and other first team players will also be sold. Add to that wage reductions and staff (other than players) being laid off and we might be able to start the new season with our academy players.

The biggest asset we have is our academy and everything that comes with it. We lose that and its game over.

Jordan's big mouth caused alot of problems. i did agree with some of the
things he often harped on about especially to do with agents but he
didn't seem to know when to keep things to himself and it cost Palace
a few times over the years and as mentioned previously especially when
it came to getting any new investors in as alot didn't want to have to deal
with him.

i'm in two minds about him. part of me admires him for what he did especially
at the beginning of his tenure but part of me dislikes him for obvious mistakes
he made, the ground being the prime one. his heart seemed to be in the right
place but his brain seemed to be elsewhere.

i think Guilfoyle's contingency plan should this takeover full through is
what Sattrega says. sell everything except the academy & its players and
start next season with them.

Brendan Guilfoyle has confirmed the possible takeover.

Quote:
“Crystal Palace have moved closer to exiting administration after the CPFC 2010 Consortium has been awarded preferred bidder status.

Administrator Brendan Guilfoyle said: "I am very pleased to have granted preferred bidder status to the CPFC 2010 Consortium.

"I am satisfied they have the finances and the ability to purchase the club and reach agreement with the creditors of the club.

"The key to the proposed sale is the stadium and I am hopeful the CPFC 2010 Consortium can have constructive negotiations with the stadium administrator, Laurie Manson.

"However, time is of the essence. I think everyone knows that I am not currently funded beyond the last game of the 2009/10 season."

Celebrity fan David Jensen, who is spokesman for the CPFC 2010 Consortium, said: "I am pleased to be assisting the CPFC 2010 Consortium, who are grateful and privileged to be granted preferred bidder status.

"Like me, the club is important to them and they have come forward with an offer to save the club from closure.

"The CPFC 2010 consortium is well funded and can complete the transaction, however, they want the maximum investment to move the club forward.

"Should anyone be interested in joining the CPFC 2010 Consortium, they should contact the administrators."”

it's great that it's been confirmed. knew the ground would still provide a problem but have to stay positive and believe that can also be sorted out.

really nervous about tonight. not feeling confident at all. keep thinking it will be a draw a best for us.

half-time: watford 0-1 palace

stern john with the goal. listening to that 45 minutes was like having my teeth extracted! we've been lucky for a change. watford on top for most of it, they have hit the post a couple of times but against the run of play we strike! come on boys!

Scannell makes it 2-0!

I'm far too nervous to even post!

Great result! That has cheered me up no end. At last it seems we got a bit of luck going our way and we took full of advantage of it. This is a huge, huge result and I can only hope this will give the lads the boost and belief they need to go on from here and save ourselves from the drop. Well done, boys!

momentum is what we need now. we have to keep this going. 6 games left, they have to give it absolutely everything. shame about hills getting that second yellow. will probably means a back 4 of lawrence, ertl, davis and mccarthy at boro' on saturday.
Sattrega
30-03-2010
Let's hope this is just the beginning of the fightback & revival. If we can get something at Boro' then we can really push on. What we don't need is more suspensions, though.

massive result for us. i'm not getting carried away but today could be
the turning point for us. first we get confirmation that we have a
preffered bidder and then we get this important win. we definitely
rode our luck and things went our way for a change except the
sending off which was ridiculous. an unbeaten run of results would
be well handy now.

What a night!

We may have been lucky to be up at half time, but everyone worked so hard tonight.

Special mentions to Andrew and especially McCarthy.

Will remember this one for a long time.

looks like warnock will have a major say as to who goes down. games against us, watford and wednesday to come for rangers. how is that for irony!?

i reckon we can only afford one more loss in those final 6 games. let's say that is west brom, then 8 or 9 points from the other games should be enough.

David Jensen, the spokesman for CPFC 2010 has been interviewed. Looks like the ground is definitely the problem for any takeover. This could still fall through.

The interview

How it came about?

Got a phone call from one of the consortium I’ve known for a while and was delighted and flattered they asked me to be spokesman. They are quite concerned at the moment that they should be in the background, and for that reason it’s why we can’t publicly tell people who they are made up of , that will happen at some point, but even when the consortium is revealed they are not the sort of people looking for celebrity. Their main aim is to secure the future of the club with the ground.

Selhurst Park?

The ground is not an absolute stumbling block but has to be sorted out. The feeling amongst the consortium is that the administration for the ground are asking an unrealistically high amount. A lot of negotiations will take place. If anything allows this CPFC2010 bid to fall down it will probably be the ground issue.

About consortium?

Delighted to be spokesperson for this particular group as they are genuine Palace fans. They are very passionate about the club and they’re all successful businessman in their own right in Surrey and South London area. They go to games regularly and know how the club works and appreciate the legacy of the club.

Supporters Trust?

Supporters Trust are well meaning, good people doing their upmost to work on behalf of CPFC2010, and if there is a role for them to play they will be invited to do so.

On Watford win last night?

I’d like to think that everybody got a lift from the news of CPFC2010, particularly in the dressing room. Now we have to build on that. If we were to be relegated it would not effect the bid.

On Simon Jordan?

Simon is the biggest creditor. He’s been fantastic, helpful and co-operative. Very much onside, which is good because his decisions will have a large impact on the future of the club.

Plans for the next month?

Need to move as quickly as we can. It is in no ones interest to drag this out. We have funding to last until the end of the season, so need to be up and running in order not to have a fire sell of the players.
