I think it's going to be a worrying summer for Palace fans as despite what the new consortium may say it's inevitable players will have to go. Who ever Palace get in as there next manager he's going to have a massive job to turn things around.

Johannes Ertl has left Crystal Palace and signed a two year contract with Sheffield United.
The 27-year-old's contract expired at the end of last season, and without the finances in place, Palace have been unable to offer him a new contract. Ertl who has played seven times for Austria, put in a number of solid performances during the last campaign for the Eagles, and played a crucial role in the 2-2 draw at Hillsborough against Sheffield Wednesday which saw Palace secure their place in the Championship. Blades boss Kevin Blackwell told their official website: "He's a good lad who can do a very solid job at right-back, central midfield and even at centre-half. And he has played enough times in the Championship for me to know he can come in and do it for us here." Quote:

a pity about Ertl. he did really well for us especially in the final few weeks of the season. Ron Noades has spoken again: Quote:
Ron Noades has warned CPFC2010 they must get a director of football in if they are to avoid the same mistakes as predecessors Mark Goldberg and Simon Jordan. Link.
The consortium, led by Steve Parish and Martin Long, rescued Crystal Palace from extinction on Monday when it signed deals to take over the club and Selhurst Park much to the relief of Eagles' fans. Former Palace chairman Noades issued a word of caution though and again reiterated his desire to run the club for free for the consortium. "It's great news but I don't know who is going to run the business," he said. "I have heard managers' names mentioned like Chris Coleman and Dougie Freedman and I wondered who is making those decisions? "If you are making decisions like that you need somebody on the football side but I don't see anybody there who can do that. "This is the trouble with everybody. "Mark Goldberg and Simon Jordan thought as they could run a business that meant they could run a football club, but it is not the same. "Running a football club is the hardest business in the world but I don't see anybody who has any experience of running a football club. "They know I would be happy to help and I have said I would run the club for nothing for them. "I am just interested in Palace but since the takeover I haven't heard from anybody. "I did get a phone call from somebody last Wednesday thanking me for my help after they agreed the stadium deal but I have heard nothing since then." Noades, who ran Palace from 1981 to 1998 when he sold it to Goldberg, also revealed he had a back-up consortium in place in case CPFC2010's deal did not go through. "I was always confident a deal would be done," he said. "There was a danger Parish may have been playing hardball too much but if they hadn't agreed the deal then it wouldn't have mattered too much. "The administrator would have sold Darren Ambrose and the money from that would have kept the club running for a month and then someone else would have stepped in. "If Parish's deal fell through then I had a group of people who had been asking me what was happening." |

A shame about Ertl, not the best player technically, but I really liked him. Quote:

Noades does raise an interesting point, though. None of these new guys have any kind of experience in what it's like to run a football club just like Goldberg & Jordan before them. Noades has his shortcomings and made mistakes but he does know the game. Although I would prefer someone else in that Director of Football role (should there be one) Steve Kember for example. Stephen Browett has posted some more info on managerial developments: Quote:
Steve, Martin and I met again last night and we want to re-assure everyone that we are urgently trying to appoint a manager. That is the number one priority at the moment and we are working on it. Some candidates have been interviewed and more will be this week. No-one is being ruled out. As soon as a manager is appointed he will address the issue of out of contract players. We don't think this can be done until a manager is appointed and he decides who he wants in his team.
Regarding the press conference, Steve Parish is having an operation on his broken collar bone later this week so we'll probably wait until the manager is appointed. Maybe next week with a bit of luck? We know that it's urgent. In the meantime we're hoping that no out of contract players leave and no contracted players will be sold. Stephen Browett |

GEORGE Burley is holding talks today about the possibility of becoming the new Crystal Palace manager. link
The former Scotland boss is meeting officials from CPFC 2010 - the consortium planning a takeover at Selhurst Park – and has therefore become a surprise contender for the position. Former Coventry chief Chris Coleman held talks about the job last week and is understood to have impressed his potential employers. However, his three-week contract with ITV to work as a pundit at the World Cup is a barrier to a quick appointment. Burley’s last position in club football came at Southampton. He left the south coast side in 2008, but guided them to the Championship play-off final in 2007. |

I'd be pleased with George Burley. In fact, Burley with Dougie as his number two would be a great combination!
I hear Phil Brown may be in the running, also. |

Burley would be a decent appointment. he is very experienced which i
think we need and he knows the division well. it's getting really interesting. i wonder who else will be interviewed. |

Steve Parish signed in to HOL last night and did a mini Q&A for a while. It makes for some interesting reading.

From the SLP: Hopefully just another rumour, though... Quote:
FOUR Premier League clubs are fighting to sign Crystal Palace teenager Nathaniel Clyne.
Aston Villa, Everton, West Ham and Wolves are all interested in the 19-year-old Stockwell-born defender. The England U19 international rejected the chance to move to Molineux in January, preferring to stay at Selhurst Park and help keep the Eagles in the Championship. However, with that feat now achieved, it seems likely that Clyne will be on his way out of SE25. |

if Clyne were to go i'd be shocked if the new owners accepted anything less
than 4 or 5 million for him. i can see him staying at Palace for at least another year. |

PAUL HART is ready to turn his back on Hull and make a surprise return to Crystal Palace. Link.
The Championship club were taken out of administration this week by the CPFC 2010 consortium fronted by Steve Parish and Martin Long. The former Portsmouth boss had been fancied to take over at the KC Stadium after holding talks with chairman Adam Pearson last week. But Hart is keen to go back to the club he saved from relegation to League One last month after the new owners made clear their interest in him. They are now set to make a formal approach this week and are believed to favour his appointment alongside former Palace player Dougie Freedman. "Paul would love to go back to Selhurst Park," said a source close to Hart. "He was bowled over by the passion of the fans when he led them to safety at the end of last season and it's one of the best clubs he has worked at." |

The thing that worries me about Hart, is that I don't think he would be given much time by the fans.

I have to be honest, I wouldn't like Hart to come back. Don't get me wrong I'll be forever grateful to the guy for stepping in like he did under horrendous circumstances and I admire him for that, however, I stand by what I said earlier in this thread, we didn't stay up because of him it was in despite of him.

no to paul hart for me. his tactics were so negative alot of the time. it was more about not losing rather than winning. he gets my eternal thanks for coming in like he did but i don't want him back as manager. director of football would be a good role for him instead.

Yeah, I'd second the director of football position for Hart, but TBH we have to strike a balance between what we need as a team and a club, and who we're grateful to.
