a new ground would be great, i would definitely be up for that. renovating selhurst would be a nightmare, its not just the main stand that needs doing but the arthur waite too.
didn't we once have plans for a new ground years back. i can't recall if it was under noades or whether it was with goldberg or jordan but i definitely remember something about relocating back then. |

For this club to finally move forward then relocating to a new purpose-built stadium is a brilliant idea. If it were to happen my only hope would be that it was different to those normal dome-type stadiums you see. Build something with a bit more character to it. And then call it "The Nest"
![]() ![]() i remember those plans for a new ground years ago. it was really nice. |

Palace's new manager George Burley is hoping that Darren Ambrose signs a new contract with the club. Link.
A few weeks ago Ambrose was poised to join London rivals QPR in a £750,000 deal. Since then the CPFC 2010 consortium have bought the club and Burley, who handed the 26-year-old his professional debut at Ipswich, hopes that the player will stay. "I brought Darren through as a kid and gave him debut at 17 at Ipswich," said Burley. "I think maybe he was too young when he left Ipswich for Newcastle. "He scored 20 goals last season and he is a player I want to keep. He's a top player and we will be trying to get him to extend his contract." |

i'm hoping that as burley was the one to bring ambrose through as a kid that will swing things in favour of darren staying.
i also read that despite having a few offers from other clubs, danny butterfield wants to stay at palace and negotiate a new contract. |

Yeah, it's a shame to see him go but he's been a good servant to the club. All the best to him at Loftus Road.
Elsewhere some much better news as it looks like Warnock has given up on his quest to sign Ambrose. Link |

The Crystal Palace squad return to Beckenham on Thursday 1st July for the start of pre-season training and Eagles boss George Burley is only too aware that there are issues that need to be sorted out, before they drive through the gates at 9am. Link.
"In terms of the staff at the training ground we are essentially starting from scratch as we look to bring in a backroom team. We have a very small squad at the moment, there are a number of players who are out of contract so there is a lot of issues at the club which need to be dealt with." When asked just how much of a budget he will have at his disposal for the new campaign, Burley revealed it will allow the club to "compete" in the upcoming campaign. "There is a budget in place that the new consortium are keen to follow, they are a little bit nervy after what has happened over the last couple of seasons. I think that is the way it should be as you can throw money at your club but you need to be solvent There is a budget and we will certainly be able to compete and do well in the Championship." When new managers join clubs there are often a flurry of transfers, both in and out, but Burley is only concentrating in signing players that want to play for Crystal Palace. "For me it is about getting the right players in. I have got a lot of contacts within the game and we have got room to bring players in but they will need to have the right attitude and commitment so that they can do well for Crystal Palace." |

First rumour:
Palace boss George Burley could be set to make Ipswich defender David Wright his first signing at Selhurst Park. The South London Press understands the 30-year-old - whose deal at Portman Road is up this summer - is a target for the Scot, who was appointed Eagles chief last week. Wright started his career at Crewe before a £500,000 switch to Wigan. He joined Ipswich for £200,000 in 2007 and has made over 400 career appearances. Leeds have also been linked with the Warrington-born stopper. |

Former Crystal Palace defender Dean Austin has been appointed first team coach. Link.
Austin, 40, who spent four years as a Palace player, has had previous managerial experience at Southend United and Watford. New boss George Burley told the Croydon Advertiser: "I'm bringing in Dean Austin to help myself and Dougie [Freedman]. "Obviously he knows the club well. He will work alongside us with the first team and will also help with scouting." Burley has confirmed that he will continue to bring in more backroom staff members in the coming weeks. "The administration has left us rather short in terms of staff at the training ground, but by the time the players return for pre-season on Thursday we hope to have everything ready", he said. After the announcement this week of the CVA being agreed by Palace's creditors, Burley has been told that he is able to start the process of bringing in new playing staff - Ipswich defender David Wright's name has been rumoured to be the first. "I've been told that I can bring people in and we are working on a number of deals," he said. "Nothing is done officially with David yet but he is one we are trying to sign." |
