Sounds like violent conduct which would be a 3-match ban. Just what we need...

1-1 at 90 minutes. extra time it is.

all over. 1-1 after extra-time. pompey win 4-3 after penalties. we took 7 and missed 4!! we just struggle to score full stop.

The League cup's crap anyway.

Sounds like we played some good stuff though. Start putting chances away and it'll be a fun season.

That's going to be the crux of it. We need one of these strikers to step up and start doing this or it's going to be a slog again.

I'm not too bothered about going out last night. By all accounts we played well, created chances and looked the better team. The Zaha sending off didn't help and our penalties were woeful. Felt sorry for Speroni after his heroics in the shoot-out ended up counting for nothing.

would have been nice to get through last night but
i'm not too bothered by the early exit.

confirmation that Alan Lee has left for Huddersfield. he has
signed a 2-year deal with them. i'm really surprised he has
dropped down a division even for more money. good luck to
him though. he served us well.

Good luck big 'Al.

Hope he scores against Wednesday again.

Sad to see Lee depart. Good luck to him.

So, is it Counago and Zaha as the first choice strike pair (after Zaha's suspension is served)?

i hope so. i don't want to see calvin andrew starting!

a few places again reporting birmighams interest in nathaniel clyne and how they are about to up their offer to £2m.

and george burley has made it clear that neil danns is not going anywhere after the leicester rumours emerged again.

I thought all those rumours had gone away. The sooner this transfer window is closed the better!

Anyone see the Edgar Davids interview on SSN yesterday? I think he's obssesed with Twitter!

yeah, he sounds like a really cool bloke. loved it when he said
he told all his Twitter mates to start supporting Palace.
and he sounded so grounded and determined to do a good
job for us.

Our away kit seems to have caught the eye of some...

a paper with taste.

todays line-up:

Speroni, Clyne, Davis, McCarthy, Danns, Garvan, Cadogan, Davids, Djilali, Marrow, Counago.

Subs: Barrett, Dorman, Andrew, Price, Parson, O'Keefe, Obika.

Looks like 4-5-1, then. Hopefully Ambrose won't be out for too much longer.
-Bandit-

here we go. we've been the better team but once again are unable to score and now we are 1-0 down.

and to add to the woe paddy mac has had to go off and has been replaced with obika so we are now 4-4-2.

The words "long hard season" have suddenly entered my head again...
-Bandit-

now 2-0 down. for all the nice football we play it's pointless because we have no one to put the ball in the net.

*sighs* This is fast reminding me of the 4-0 tonking we took from them at Selhurst last season.
-Bandit-

it's not just up front where we have issues. we have them too at centre back. no one good enough to partner paddy and when he goes out the team we have even bigger problems.
Sattrega

I agree with that. We definitely need another decent centre-back in before Wednesday.

But I do still feel we will have a better second half of the season than first once the (virtually) new team has had the time to settle and gel a lot more.

could be repeat. we're 3-0 down. getting on the brink of embarrassing.

Full-time: Scunthorpe 3-0 Palace

I know it's still early doors etc, but that is a very poor result. Far from happy today.

new team or no new team we're going to have to do better than that. not good enough.

but at least we get a fortnight off now for burley to sort everything out.

We had most of the possession again, we played some very good stuff again especially in the first half, knocked the ball around well, the passing and movement was good but we only had 2 shots on target the entire 90 minutes. That speaks volumes. If that gets rectified I'm sure it will be sooner rather than later that we start picking up points and wins.

That's what's gone through my mind.

I'm hoping you're right about our passing and stuff being good, just the shots on goal needing work. I didn't go, I'll get a match report from mates who did in due course.
