palace v newcastle: early team news. Quote:
After the midweek win, Palace boss Neil Warnock will be tempted to name an unchanged side against Newcastle.
The Eagles are still without striker Stern John, who was injured just half an hour into his debut in the opening game of the season after he landed awkwardly on his elbow. Freddie Sears - still looking for his first Palace goal after infamously missing out at Bristol City last weekend - and Alan Lee will continue in attack. Darren Ambrose scored twice in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Tractor Boys despite playing through the pain of a shoulder injury and will keep his place in midfield. Goalkeeper Julian Speroni took a painful knock in the first half at Portman Road but completed the game and should also be fine. |

Bad start. 1-0 to the Toon after only 2 minutes.
Bit disappointed that Speroni didn't make it. Thats a big loss. |

Not too disappointed. We played OK and worked hard, especially the second half.
The 2nd goal was fantastic, the first was poor defending. If we'd taken the chances we had, we could have come away with something. |

Some weeks we will be brilliant, some unlucky and some just crap. Basically consistent at being inconsistent! Mid-table beckons then lol

![]() ![]() Looking forward to the cup clash against City this coming Thursday, now. I'm hoping we can really get at them and give them a decent game. It will be interesting to see what kind of team Hughes puts out. |

Yep, should be a good night.
Warnock said after Saturday's game that he might rest some people. I'd like to see Moses get a start, see what he can really do against a top side. |

yeah, i hope we can give it a real go. get stuck in and not concede early like we did against newcastle. we've got nothing to lose, everybody will expect city to just brush us aside regardless of what team they put out.

Some good news... Quote:
Crystal Palace have been handed a boost after the Football League lifted the transfer embargo on the club.
The Eagles were hit with the embargo over a financial dispute, but those issues have been settled meaning Warnock can dip into the transfer market ahead of next week's deadline. "The embargo has been lifted so I'm trying hard to bring in one or two new faces," Warnock told the South London Press. Warnock is now expected to tie up deals for Derby defender Claude Davis and former Millwall winger Ryan Smith. |

Good performance tonight against that Man City team. Great seeing the youngsters do so well.
Warnock said we were close to getting Craig Beattie back today, but Swansea made a late bid and he's gone there.

Proud of the boys today, they really gave 100%
On another day with another ref it could of maybe been different. Worried about Moses tho, that was a nasty one from Bridge. |

the lads did well. especially in the first half.
definitely need another striker, one who can actually put the ball in the net. thats all we really lacked last night, the finishing. not sure about n'diaye still. too often he has clumsy feet. |

I enjoyed the City game despite the result. I felt we were unlucky in the first half and could easily have been ahead at half-time. We got caught a bit cold at the start of the second half with City starting quickly and upping the pace, but overall we can look back at it with a lot more positives than negatives.

peterborough v palace today live on sky sports.
palace team news: Palace will monitor Victor Moses after the winger was on the end of a crunching tackle from Manchester City's Wayne Bridge during Thursday's Carling Cup defeat. The Eagles are still without strikers Stern John (elbow) and Calvin Andrew (knee), but Alan Lee can expect a recall in attack after dropping to the bench against City. Midfielders Shaun Derry and Darren Ambrose played in midweek despite sickness bugs and should be fine again. The clash is Palace's first trip to Peterborough's London Road ground since a 1-1 draw in March 1994. |

Full-Time: Peterborough 1-1 Palace
I'm a bit disappointed by this result. Even with 10 men I felt we had more to offer than them and its very frustrating. With the players we have we should be doing better than drawing with Plymouth & Peterborough (no disrespect intended to those clubs) I know its still early doors but our obvious lack of a cutting edge up front is really going to haunt us again, I think. |

Damn that was a crap match wasn't it!?
We were so exciting on Thursday, yet today we reverted back to the typical 'lump it and run' style. Thankfully they were just as bad as us. |

Was turgid to watch, as much as I love Derry he really seems to be a yard too slow these days.
I was relieved to see Victor Moses come on tho, hopefully his injury is just a slight knock afterall. |

Its been confirmed that Claude Davis has signed a two-year deal.
But, not surprisingly, there was no striker coming in. At least we kept hold of Moses, Clyne, Scannell etc... |
