i'm no fan of his but i find it weird that we're loaning out players when our own squad is on the thin side.

Reported line-up for today's match and there's no Ambrose!
Speroni, Clyne, Wright, Davis, McCarthy, Danns, Vaughan, Garvan, Zaha, N'Diaye, Marrow. Subs: Dorman, Price, Cadogan, Djilali, O'Keefe, Obika, Counago. |

useless at the back.
useless up front. Garvan is a moron. Davis is incapable of defending well for 90 mins. Burley is totally inept with substitutions. only bright thing was O'Keefe. |

Or to put it another way, a game completely ruined by some of the worst refereeing I've ever seen.
Truly, truly dreadful officials. |

Despite how much I love the sport there are days when I despise football for its cruelty. Yesterday was one of those days.
First of all Joooe is spot on about the officials, they were shockingly bad. But we continue to be the instigators of our own downfalls... I've now lost count of the amount of stupid red cards we've had this season and how many penalties we have given away. Garvan is an idiot. He had already been told to button it a few minutes earlier by the ref but still decided to throw abuse at him after the ludicrous penalty decision. Davis is a clutz and that will never change. He was actually having a stormer but you knew, you just knew he was going to make some kind of huge error at some point and lo' & behold, he did. And Tusk is right to mention Burley. For a manager with such experience he is showing anything but. After battling to a 2-1 lead and being put under huge pressure we needed a tactical change. One of the strikers had to come off for a midfielder to tighten things up as we were clearly getting overrun but instead he did nothing, I just couldn't believe that. The two stand-out things for me were Speroni, who quite simply, along with Nigel Martyn is the best 'keeper we've ever had. And O'Keefe who looked composed and comfortable on the ball when he came on. Overall, you cannot fault the effort but the bigger problems are there for us all to see. We have major problems defensively and clearly lack a cutting edge in the final third. Burley HAS to rectify this in January otherwise we can kiss goodbye to 33 consecutive years in the top 2 divisions. |

And in another world, Burley makes changes, they still get given 2 goals and Burley's at fault for going too defensive.
When 4 out of 5 goals in a game are a direct result of a questionable referee decision, it really can't be looked past. We'll never know how we would have done, were it not for those officials. |

When 4 out of 5 goals in a game are a direct result of a questionable referee decision, it really can't be looked past. We'll never know how we would have done, were it not for those officials. We got ourselves into a position of being 2-1 up against the run of play and under immense pressure. Regardless of the referee's decisions up to that point it was then that Burley needed to change things tactically to protect our lead. He didn't. So, we remained under huge pressure with two strikers up the field and a gap remained where Garvan had been. Don't get me wrong, I'm fully behind Burley (at the moment) but that was a mistake IMO. Obviously the outcome may have still been the same but an extra midfielder on the pitch helping our back four for the last 20 minutes surely would have made more sense then leaving two up front? |

blew it. easy to say in hindsight but it was a ridiculous decison leaving 2 strikers on once we got the lead. but it's not the first time that he has got it wrong tactically. anyway it's done now. hopefully we get things right on Saturday. |

I would be amazed to see Jules still with us come February 1st. To be honest he has been a great servant and deserves his shot at the Premiership. No-one could begrudge him that if offers do come in for him in January.

i'd also be shocked to see Speroni stay. another big problem for us
then would be his replacement. Neil Danns has spoken out about his contract talks. Link. |

He is better than at least half the keepers in the premier league and deserves his chance. |

Played well all-round.
Especially Counago playing just behind the strikers. He really looked good today and it worked great. |

an ok tie. would have prefered it at selhurst but at least it gives us a weekend where we don't have to worry about our league form and position.
