Yeah, the way I've always looked at it is because finances weren't in place during the August window we've had to rely heavily on loan signings and kids which meant it was always going to be a struggle. Now the finances are in place to actually buy in some players hopefully the team will start to gel better in the second half of the season.

There's no doubting that we have some very good players but knowing that half the team were there on loan for just a few months must have been unsettling all round.

i do agree with that but we're going to need one striker, one defensive midfielder and 2 defenders at the very least next month. then they will need time to gel too. that's if we can find them in the first place...

That will be the biggest problem for Burley.

I think Vaughan will be that striker, Burley seems keen to get him back on a permanent deal.

Well, we ended with a massive 2 shots on target.

Surprising that there were no bookings at all in the game - perhaps the referee was too cold to get his cards out?

there's another problem i have... vaughan scored a hattrick against pompey but did virtually nothing after that. we need someone who is already capable of scoring goals on a regular basis not someone who has the potential to...

That sums up this season's away form in a nutshell.

I will admit that I have my doubts with Vaughan, too, but I'm not sure where else Burley can look?

i'm not sure i want burley to be the man that deals in the january transfer window anymore. i can't see things changing much under him. his tactics are way too negative away from home and the players look lightweight mentally & physically. every week he comes out with the same poor excuses as to why we haven't performed or why we have lost. it's 22 games now, just how long can that be allowed to continue?

I am beginning to lose a bit of patience, now, but I still do believe that Burley deserves a chance to see what he can do in the January transfer window. We have the crux of a good side, it just needs a few additions, a few tweaks and a change in tactics.

I'm not panicking yet, although I am sweating a bit!!

a pathetic, gutless performance. Burley gets worse. the team selection
and tactics were wrong. no shape to the team whatsoever and this from
a manager who has been in charge for 22 games. does that not speak
volumes?

away from home we are atrocious. no desire, no heart, no passion and we
run around like headless chickens. this stems from Burley, a man who is
seemingly incapable of getting the players fired up, getting the players
to believe in themselves and getting them to perform.

he stays we go down.

I still don't think it's as black and white as that.

We clearly lack strength in depth, particularly in certain positions and this has to be rectified in January. Burley himself said yesterday after the game that he is looking to bring in 4 or 5 players next month and he should be given the chance to do that.

If we don't start picking up more points after that then questions about his reign can be asked.

i think he also said he has certain names lined up so i'm wondering who these 4 or 5 players are?

rumours today that james vaughan is off to huddersfield on loan next month.

all well & good Burley saying he has targetted 4 or 5 players
to bring in but he has his work cut out selling the club to them
and getting them to join a struggling team stuck firmly in the
bottom 3 of the Championship.

Neill Danns has said he wants to stay..

EXCLUSIVE: Crystal Palace set to sack George Burley as fear of relegation grips owners Steve Parish and Martin Long

Take with a pinch of salt.

Quote:
“Burley is said to have lost the dressing room, with a number of players unhappy with his training methods and perceive his management style as disorganised.

There are also major question marks over Burley's signings. Summer signings Andy Dorman, Owen Garvan and Pablo Counago have not hit the heights that Burley had hoped - a fact that has not gone unnoticed by Parish and Long.”

This part wouldn't surprise me at all...

Looks like Steve Parish has now rubbished rumours that George Burley will be sacked.

1pm kick off today for the home game against norwich...

as i type this the game is on but temps dropped to around -8 last night so hopefully we don't get a frozen pitch scenario.

The match is now off - frozen pitch as suspected.

i'm annoyed by todays postponement but it may be a blessing in
disguise as it gives us an extra couple of days rest which will be
good for Ambrose. and Bristol City will have less time to recover
for our game there on Tuesday.

team news - no ambrose, marrow or garvan.

line-up:

Speroni; Clyne, Wright, Davis, McCarthy, Danns, Andrew, Scannell, Zaha, Bennett, Counago.

Subs: Barrett, Doorman, Price, Canogan, N'Diaye, O'Keefe, Obika.

On first reflection that line-up doesn't inspire me with any confidence. Looks a bit disjointed.

Hopefully we get a bit more luck there today than we did last season!
-Bandit-

midfield looks weak.

if we fail to win today and again at the den on saturday then surely burley's time will be up...

Well, we're off to a flyer. Danns after 3 minutes.
