Stay away from Eddie.

According to Sky Sports we have made an offer to Eddie Howe and he is weighing it up, but I can't seem to find anywhere else that mentions this so take it with a pinch of salt for now.

“Palace target Eddie Howe will take charge of Cherries today – with a decision on his potential move to Selhurst Park understood to be set for early next week.

The sought after Cherries manager last night continued to be heavily linked with a switch to the Championship strugglers.

Although neither chairman Eddie Mitchell nor Howe has confirmed the approach, the chairman is believed to have given the Eagles permission to speak to the 33-year-old.

Daily Echo sources claim Howe met with Palace officials on Thursday to discuss the manager’s position, made vacant by the departure of George Burley.

The Cherries chief was at Dean Court for training yesterday as his high-flying side prepared to host League One rivals Plymouth Argyle this afternoon (3pm).

But news on whether he will remain in charge of Cherries beyond his 99th game as manager, or be offered a move up the ladder by Palace, could come as early as Monday.”

Whether a move by Eddie Howe would indeed be " a move up the ladder to Palace, " is unfortunately doubtful given our current position in the table.

I hope we have a Plan B in place in case he says no.

Today's line-up at Coventry...

Speroni, Clyne, Wright, McCarthy (c), Danns, Iversen, Garvan, Dorman, Cadogan, N'Diaye, Gardner

Subs: Price (GK), Davis, Barrett, Andrew, Zaha, O'Keefe, Counago

I can't get over just how truly bad we are away from home this season. It's almost comical.

He'd be mad to want to come here, more so when you look at how well Bournemouth are doing.

Half-time: 2-0 Coventry.

gutted about the late penalty miss but we can now concentrate on the league...

Much better second half overall and the penalty miss was disappointing but it's probably a blessing in disguise going out early this year. Going to be interesting to see what Howe makes of it all.

It really is typical Palace to do all the hard work, get back into the game and then go and miss the equalising penalty.

Come and save us Eddie Howe.

getting sick and tired of us constantly losing away.
whoever comes in has a massive job to make us difficult to beat
away from Selhurst.

not really bothered about going out the cup but it would
have been a nice distraction from the league problems like
last year.

“Caretaker boss Dougie Freedman admits Crystal Palace's FA Cup defeat to Coventry was his last game in charge.

Freedman guided Palace to league victory over Preston on Monday but was unable to repeat the trick in Saturday's tie at Coventry.

The Eagles fought back to 2-1 as Neil Danns missed a penalty late on to bow out of the competiton at the first attempt.

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is hotly tipped to take over at Selhurst Park with Freedman's lack of mangerial experience likely to have cost him the role full time.

"I probably won't be in charge for the next match," he said. "I think we should expect a new manager sooner rather than later and the only reason I say that is because we are in the transfer window and you can see that we are short in one or two positions and I think it is best that we appoint a manager so that he can get into the transfer market."

Freedman believed Palace could have sealed a place in the fourth round had they taken a number of opportunities.

"I think we should have ended up winning the game if we look at the chances and the possession we had, especially in the second half," he said.

"We missed a penalty and one or two close shaves in and around the six-yard box so overall I thought we could have won it, but if you switch off in the first 20 minutes and don't defend properly you are going to get punished.

"I was extremely disappointed with the way we started and the players must understand it is a competitive game from the beginning, especially against Coventry, and you can't just turn it on and off but saying that, we showed good character in the second half to get back in it."”

still hope dougie stays on at the club...

Reports are looking like he has rejected you. Just gotta keep Burnley away now, sure he wouldn't go to Charlton

Yeah, looks like Keith Hill is now favourite to land the Palace job.

“PALACE chairman Steve Parish seems to have given up hope of winning the signature of number one target Eddie Howe.

The club’s internet-message boards have been flooded all day long with rumours and speculation regarding the future of the Bouremouth boss.

Howe has been locked in talks with Cherries chairman Eddie Mitchell this afternoon and is set to make a decision on his future tonight, with Charlton and Burnley also chasing the 33-year-old’s services.

Latest reports on the south coast suggest that Palace have gone back in with an improved offer for Howe and are waiting to hear back.

But, speaking exclusively to the Advertiser, Parish said unless something “extraordinary happens tonight” he expects Freedman to take the reins again at the Liberty Stadium.

“As it stands we are still looking for a new manager,” he said. “No one has accepted the job and unless something extraordinary happens tonight I expect Dougie will be in charge for Swansea.

“He has kindly agreed to do so and as it stands that’s what we are planning for.”

On the reports about Howe, Parish said: “There’s a huge amount of speculation about one person but there’s a lot of other people we are also talking to.””

so many different rumours going around today, its
been insane.

my problem is i would like a manager who doesn't need
to think about coming to us, he would just do it. someone
who takes an age to decide can't have their whole heart in the
move?

Howe stays at Bournemouth.

Disappointed, but was kind of expecting it after yesterday.

/me breathes a huge sigh of relief. Would say that Palace is the sort of club that Eddie should be looking to move onto; just not at the moment with a half-finished job here.

Good luck to Howe, he's working wonders at Bournemouth so stands to reason he would want to stay and try and get them promoted.

I do kind of agree with that in a way.

So... is Keith Hill our Plan B or is it someone else?

Couldn't be more happier (afcb fan here) I just hope you get someone other than Keith Hill. He is a good manager but could be a hell of a lot better one if he wasn't such a prat.

Who do you want as manager now?

Good question.

Personally Howe was the only one who actually got me excited. Of the other names mentioned, there's none that particularly stand-out.

Think I'd be happy for Dougie Freedman to be given the job at least 'til the end of the season.
