I'm surprised we're bothering tbh! I really don't think it would make any odds who represents us or how brilliant they are on the night...

Why not let Quentin Wilson or Chris Parker have a go? At least we'd show the rest of Europe that we can take the P as well

Yes I am liking this!!!

I like it too I'm still waiting to hear a good reason for Nicole missing out this year, and nothing I've heard about the new pro - though I'm sure she's very nice - makes me feel any better about it...It's baffling!

Jill's only just had a baby, not sure she'll be up for recreating her jive again!

Chris and Nicole would be good..they might actually do better.

What with Ireland's national dance and jive that were exactly the same

Gethin and Camilla then - but Geth is too busy doing his radio show and his new TV programme!

Nicole and Chris and his batman cape...I'd not only watch it i'd record it as well!

Great idea, Chris Parker to represent us in Eurovision. Would show the other countries how seriously we take it.

Well they just did the jive irish dancing style

Anyway imo this year's one is pretty good: http://www.rte.ie/tv/latelate/av_200...82662,null,228 (not sure if the link will work in the uk). It's the first couple about 5mins 30secs into the vid. What follows is laughably bad.

Re: juries. This is what ESCKaz writes today:

Quote:
“In the only press-release, regarding Eurovision Dance Contest EBU has vaguely stated: "In addition to being judged by a panel of experts in the arena, the European audience at home will cast their vote by televoting and text voting to determine this year's winner of the Grand Prix Dancing title". Thus, ESCKaz believes that previously exclusively revealed by our website proposal of adding professional jury vote weighting as approximately 20% of the outcome has been accepted by Steering Group of the contest.”

Also, a Danish couple has been selected. Only countries with no news on the couple are UK, Azerbaijan (their participation is very surprising to me in general), Russia (though there are some rumours) and Greece.

That sounds good then. I think we'll hear who represents the UK soon, I'll be quite interested to see who it is.

I saw a pic of Kelly Brook the other day and she was in dance gear so it looks like she is dancing still and it would make sense to do this. I don't think it's fair if she does SCD 6 either.

oh and I think it's great that Glasgow is hosting it! It's harder for most of the country to get down to London and since everything is held there it's nice that somewhere else is getting the chance which means diff people can get to see it.

Why Chris and Nicole? Why not Chris and Hanna? Either would be good - they could send up dancing in their own crazy way and then at least we could all kid ourselves they came last because of the dreadful dancing, instead of UK being "Billy No-Mates", when it came to the biased judging.

I wouldn't have thought Hanna was that likely to do it? And Chris and Nicole were fantastic at the tour.

I would have thought Hanna would be too busy practising with Slavik to compete in this!

Didn't know Chris was dancing with Nicole on tour, and yes Hanna probably is too busy - and to be honest, even if she wasn't I don't think she would want anything to do with this show.

I would take this to mean that Craig and Len will give their comments, but the vote will be televote only.

I think ESCKaz are getting ahead of themselves.

I don't know, it sounds to me like ESCKaz are right- 'judged' isn't the same as being commented on.

2 TV commentators (different for each country, and only 1 should be dance professional) do not sound as "panel of judges" for me, I think.

Previously, there was proposal to have international jury (dance professionals of non-participating countries) awarding points on Eurovision scale multiplied by 4 - so maximum points from jury is 48 and maximum of televoting is 180, jury is 20% and televoting is 80%.

This proposal either was accepted, or dropped

As I wrote previously, with international jury they would be able to fill the empty 60 minutes compared to last year, when it was filled by second dance of couples. So having a jury and allowing them to give comments, while international commentators will be able to translate them and give own makes sense to me.

I hadn't thought of them having to translate the comments, that will be a bit of a nightmare for everyone involved I would have thought.

I've noticed that EBU has altered the wording of their press-release and now it reads as:
"In addition to being judged by a jury panel of experts in the arena, the European audience at home will cast their vote by televoting and text voting to determine this year's winner of the Grand Prix Dancing title"

Actually, today and tomorrow, the meeting of Heads of Delegations is taking place in Glasgow, and according to the rules on this meeting all countries should already present information about their selected couple, or a list of contestants of preselection if such is taking place (like in Spain or Lithuania, for example). So, hopefully we'll find out who's BBC choice is pretty soon.

I think we will find out very soon, I checked the thread and we found out in the first few days of July last year. With that meeting, maybe we'll find out tomorrow or next week.
