For all those eagerly awaiting the arrival of this machine(if like me you are a saddo with loads of VHS tapes), I have some interesting info. On 1/07/08 when they had no stock, play.com were going to offer this machine for £199.99 launching on 4/07/08. On 2/07/08 when they suddenly had stock(and nobody else had), it was available for £209.99, so like an idiot I ordered one and am still awaiting arrival ! ! Lo and behold, when enough of us had ordered this at the higher price, or there was no demand at the higher price, it suddenly became £199.99 on 6/07/08, only 4 days later. Yes, I know all about supply and demand, but this was more a practice of ripping the customer off. However, if you want this machine, which includes freeview, get it now at the lower price while stocks last(maybe ! !)

I know this item has HDMI out. Does this connection output all formats? ie VHS, DVD & HDD? and allow upscaling? or does the VHS have to output via the SCART?

A glance of the user manual which can be downloaded from here says yes.

Had a look at the manual but according to it the HDMI is only for the DVD & HDD

• Connect to a display with an HDMI compatible
port. Use a commercially available HDMI cable

I only asked the question coz I thought it would be one less cable to connect up. The idea of upscaling a VHS recording doesn't warrant thinking about! To be honest we've got rid of about 95% of our original 500+ VHS collection. Only kept original bought recordings , oh! and of course the evidence of our wedding some 20 years ago!
