Paying £30pm to BT for a service I hardly use
BT just seems so expensive, but the business of landline phones is such a minefield I just don't know where to start in finding something cheaper. For a few years I have been paying £30 a month by direct debit to BT for the standard "BT Together" option where you get friends and family numbers but not a lot else.
The thing is I don't even make that many calls so I just don't know where all this money is going. Most of the calls I do make are to mobiles, so in an effort to bring the bill down I have signed up for the BT Anytime package, that gives you free landline calls and reduced mobile calls. But I really don't think this is going to help. I really want to leave BT and give something else a try. But I don't know what. I currently have Sky TV and Sky Broadband, so I need to keep my BT line for that, unless I replace them with Virgin, but I'm worried that the individual cost of calls might be more expensive with Virgin. Any suggestions? |

I recommend that you look carefully here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/
I.E. keep your line rental with BT but divert most calls elsewhere depending on your requirements. |

Thanks for the link fred_bare. I think I might call BT and get them to reduce me to the cheapest line rental, then I'll start using 18185 and see how it works out.

18185 also has international mobile/internet txt messages for 1p each compared with 20p for most mobile tariffs.

Sign up for Primus's Penny Mobile 2 CPS (Carrier PreSelect) as you calls provider and any call to a mobile of less than 20 minutes will be capped at 20p. THIS may help to. |

Ring Bt to get discount
I was going to move my calls to another company but I rang BT and they gave my £4 a month off my calls and line rental So now I get all my calls and caller display and 1571 all for £12.53 a month so I would recomend ringing Bt and asking for discount or say you ill leave.

Have a click on the attachment HERE and then try ringing them armed with the details of the CPS package I am still on and which is still saving me a fortune on calls diverted from my BT landline to my mobile - 20p for each diversion of up to 20 minutes! I also use it for my mobile calls which I know are not going to be of the quick, "Where are you?" or "How long before you get here?" type. |
