Hi

I am not too AV clever and this is probably an easy question for some but I am having trouble setting up my Sony DVD recorder.

The recorder does not have freeview built in but my Panasonic TV does.

How do I connect the recorder to the TV so that I am able to record freeview channels as well as the regular BBC, ITV etc.

Any help is much appreciated!!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your quick reply Niall.

What settings do I need to change on the recorder? If I press 'input' on the r/c it only displays line 1 and 2.

sorry line 1 on the dvd player to tv scart

select line 1 whatever you want to record of tv. The only downside is that the TV scart must send the signal to the dvd recorder, so look for a circle with an arrow out and in

might be easier buying a £20 freeview box and connect it to line 1. That way you could record something of freeview and watch another freeview programm on the telly

Many thanks.

That makes sense now.

If I was to connect a satellite receiver instead of a freeview box to line 1, would it work in the same way ie. would I be able to record from channels on the satellite?

yes and you could use autoview if sky box, so it will change channel automatically if you are popping out for a few hours and the box will change channels for you; with you just recording Line 1

even better get sky+ and record to DVD if you really like a programme. and you have the ability to watch one channel and record another on sky

its so easy with sky+ I bet you will hardly use the dvd recorder, i dont

its the way forward

Hi mate

Thanks again for your attention.

Not got Sky(+) as I refuse to pay so much per month but I suppose the same applies to any satellite receiver.

Cheers again
