I have this VCR and all works fine except sometimes when i rewind a recordable tape back to the start, it does this and then turns off with F 03 on the display. If i press POWER it turns back on with the normal channel, mode and counter. Then i press POWER again and the tape icon and clock appear and then the error doesn't reappear until next time. But it does not do it with pre-recorded tapes? Why and what does the error code mean anyway?

Error F03 is either a cracked loading motor coupling or a faulty mode motor control switch...both parts are inexpensive but require an experienced VCR technicians expertise to replace.

What's easier, buy a new VCR or get it fixed? I've seen a Philips NICAM one in Argos for under £60 and by the way, i did get given this Panasonic one as the one i had before it ended up not rewinding at all.
