Your Ideal Final 3
Holly Oaks
08-07-2008
So I know it's over and everything, and I was happy with the final 3 and loved all of the Nancys (well maybe not all, but anyway ), if you had your way who would have been in the final?

Mine:

Samantha
Sarah
Niamh - though I realise she wasn't really right for the part.

Would have been happy for any of them to win, unfortunately, none of them did

Awww. Liked them all too.

But my final three.

Jessie, cause I saw her as Nancy from the start, to finish, AND I LOVED HER VIOCE.

Sarah, because she proved to be a great performer.

Jodie, Sam or Rachel. Can't decide. Rachel only got into my good books towards the end. Jodie. Although I can see that she is a great singer, I wasn't sure towards the end.
Sam, liked her at the start, not so much in the middle, great towards the end.

So I don't know, but Sarah and Jessie top 2.

Sarah, Francesca and Rachel...

With Sarah or Fran winning (Sarah could come second and then play Galinda in Wicked!)

Sam, Niamh and Sarah

although I'm kinda glad none of them won now, it means they can go on and do other things and not be known as "Nancy from the TV show"

Ashley
Niamh (went wayy off her now)

I'm having trouble narrowing it down to three, but I do have a dream final five, which is based on suitability for the role, rather than overall talent.

Rachel
Jessie
Jodie
Francesca
Keisha

Keisha was sooo underrated IMO.

I've slightly went off Niamh too

Mine were Niamh, Sam and Sarah in any order, but if I had to replace Niamh I'd choose Rachel or Fran

Really? I thought she was overrated. She has a strong voice but it isn't always pleasant to listen to.

Sam of course
Rachel
Sarah/Ashley

I'd have liked to Sarah given a bit more of a chance and I really liked Ashely, I don't know why Andrew was so against her.

I see what you're saying. But I think this is exactly why she was so suitable for Nancy. I think they were looking for a voice with a slightly harsh aspect to it. The rough around the edges quality of Nancy had to be reflected in the voice too. Keisha had the perfect Nancy voice if you ask me, huge, brassy, sonorous. I think Rachel and particularly Jessie had this to some extent also.

This is why I eventually decided against Sarah for this particular role. Though I thought she could act it superbly and I never really saw her physicality as a problem, her vocal quality was far too sweet. The bright soprano timbre of her voice would have been lovely in many roles, but not this one.

I would definately agree with this! Her voice was almost too good, too polished for the part. She is amazing though so no doubt she has a bright future ahead of her.

My top 3 would be:
Sam
Jessie
Sarah

probably with jessie winning, as although I am a huge Sam fan there are parts I think she would suit far better and there is no denying how good Jessies ALAHNM was!
