The BB US dilemma: to be spoiled or not?
I always find myself in a dilemma when it comes to BB US.
For a few seasons, I only watched the 3 weekly highlights shows and nothing else. Not knowing who was nominated or who won the veto, the episodes were gripping. Nailbiting! Tense! Exciting! That's what I loved about BB US! Then with the last season, I was suddenly aware that nominations and vetos happened 3 or 4 days before shown on the episodes, and I hated not knowing information. I wanted to keep up with live feed reporting, which meant reading BB blogs, and being spoiled. I was satisfied to have knowledge, but you know what? It stopped the 3 weekly shows from being exciting Reading information on a screen is nowhere near as fun as seeing it unfold in an episode. So this is my dilemma: a) Keep the episodes exciting, but know I'm only getting a fraction of the BB experience. b) Have a lot more immediate knowledge, but not be excited by the shows. What do you guys do? |

I think it has to be just the 3 nightly shows- otherwise it just isnt very interesting.
Its the same with the BBUK Live Feed, you know what has happened already so it takes away from the HL Show. |

If your other option is just reading about what's going on, then I would definitely say to stay unspoiled.
I watched only the 3 episodes per week for 5 seasons, then I got the live feeds in season 6 and it changed everything. Now that I *know* everything that goes on that doesn't make the edited show, I can't watch the CBS show all by itself. You're right, the editing is pretty gripping if you know nothing else, they do a good job with that. It's why I like eviction nights. I may already know who's being evicted, but I don't know who will win HOH, and that's the most exciting part of the week for me. But I can't help but watch the live feeds (almost literally 24/7) because that's where the best stuff usually is, and it's almost always cut from the edited show. |

So on the LF does it even show who is evicted?
And is the LF anything like ours where it cuts the sound and any good bits out? |

Our LF goes to some kind of screen that's akin to your audio cut (it's different every year, examples: BB6 was a shot of the fish tank, BB7 was a screen of flames, BB8 was a swirling blue vortex, BB9 was a fireplace) at various times during the day:
- when the live show is on... we watch that show on TV, and then the LF comes back on usually within about 10 minutes of that show going off the air - when official ceremonies or competitions are on (POV ceremony, Nomination ceremony, POV competition, food competition).. but we can figure everything out when the LF comes back on minutes after it's over - when the HGs are singing (anything!) or saying something about auditions, etc. or anything about production - if the HGs are talking about any people (by name) that haven't signed a waiver - certain sexual situations (depending) Those are the times we're "blacked out" from LFs. I really wish they'd only do the audio cut for some of those situations, but they cut video as well. Overall it's not too bad, though, depending on how much the HGs break the rules. |

Being on the east coast, there are occasions when it doesn't return until Midnight! They are pretty good though with the after show HoH comps. At least they 'usually' get the feed straight up. The last one I remember when they didn't go live until Midnight , was actually BB6. The whole Kaysar vs Jennifer task. But I didn't mind as when I awoke the next morning, it was still going! Silly Kaysar! (The only housemate to be evicted 3 times!) Steph |

Not always the case (unless you are on the west coast) Sometime I go mental at the feed for using embargo in disrupting my viewing pleasure!

I think it ended around 7:15am (my time), right before I had to shower and get to work. I was so upset when he took his finger off. Kaysar's still my favorite male HG of all time, even if he sucked at the game itself. lol Last edited by TeamPink : 10-07-2008 at 00:56. Reason: typo |

Also, the live feeds have 4 cameras to choose from.

Totally insane! And you are correct. I actually had the Friday off, and it would have been around 10am (my time), when I was busting blood vessels screaming at Kaysar not to listen to the trashy, lying, scheming bitch..(Sorry, I still get so mad!) Whomever said time heals is so wrong! lol Kaysar and Janelle would be my favorite 2 housemates of all time. Steph |

I can't imagine I'd be remotely interested in BB USA if I knew what was going to happen in the episodes - the tension is what makes it what it is for me.
I always try and avoid spoilers, which usually means I have no one to discuss the show with because everything is 'old news' to every one else by the time I see it, I think last year it was me and one other person posting in the no spoilers thread lol |
