Sony tv/skyplus/dvd recorder set up
i've got the skyplus connected to tv and have been watching for ages. Now decided to connect dvd and am all in knots.
i thought it was simple ie, two scart leads from dvd one to tv and one to sky. sony tv is playing sky+ through av2 and i think the dvd is coming thru av1 as if i play a dvd that's where it comes thru. I just can't seem to tune the dvd to get sky coming thru it - it does pick up the digital channels on the tv but...not sky. i'm desperate to record some stuff to dvd so the kids can go and watch movies upstairs so i have a bit of peace. The dvd is a Liteon. Pls help. |

Assuming your DVD has two SCARTS .....Sky+ TV Scart to DVD Scart 1, DVD Scart 2 to TV Scart 1 and you should be sorted , the DVD will pass the Sky+ signal. ( If the DVD is on make sure you select the correct AV source on the DVD tuner ( probably AV1 )
Alternatively, Sky+ TV Scart to Scart 1 on TV, Sky+ VCR Scart to Scart 1 on DVD, and DVD Scart 2 to TV Scart 2. Both should work but first option is simpler |

how do i know which is scart one on the dvd - is it the one on the top?? i bet a man dreampt that one up |

the scarts on the DVDR may both be input and output but not always.
The manual will tell you which one is 'predominantly' input - his is normally AV2 (or EXT2 or similar) - you should connect the scart from Sky+ TV scart socket (bottom one on Sky+) to DVDR AV2. Then connect DVDR AV1 to TV AV1. Set DVDR input to be AV2 - this will point it to the Sky box and (with the TV set to AV1) you should now see Sky+. If you press record on DVDR and play on Sky+ you should now be recording from Sky+. Rgds, Scorp (a man!) xx |
