You have in no way offended me, I don't mind people posting negative facts about Alex, as I'm sure no one on here does, it gives us something to debate, not everyone can be a fan of Alex. It's the reason's you cited that I was replying to. It is clear you are not an Alex fan, nobody disputes that, but many of us on this forum seem to be, and if you are going to accuse us of being fan's of Alex based solely on his looks , ( his looks are just a bonus ) then that is rather shallow of you. And if you feel like knocking Alex, fair enough, but for doing something for charity, well that is a bit low of you.
”

im not knocking him for doing charitable "work" im knocking the fact that many housemates have made more generous actions and its not appreciated

The only housemate that I know of who has clearly made a more generous charitable action is Craig Philips. I certainly do appreciate what Craig did and have said so here before now, and so have many others.

Would this be the same Craig who's intent on donating the prize money, should he win, was leaked and publicised in the press just before the final? However, this does not alter the fact he did it, so good on him for that.

I see you beat me to the obvious answer to Stupid about the "so called" big-issue seller incident with Alex Susann.

Alex does do many things for charity, some are publicised, some are not. I personally think very highly of him for doing it (he doesn't have to after all), and that has sweet Fanny Adams to do with his looks.

I would just like to add that I wouldn't do what Alex did - not for charity, not to further my career, not for anything.

Where your argument falls down is that this show was made a long time ago

It was a good five or six months ago that Alex was reported as saying that he was off to south America to do some TV work, which must have been this

At the time he was on TV a lot, had just done " Boys & Girls " (yuk), Wish You Were Here etc and didn't really have to do anything just to raise his profile. After all he had made over a million quid in less than year.

He has recently admitted that work is drying up a bit now, but he doesn't seem that bothered about it

I think you are providing evidence to backup Stupid3001 case.
Alex did go through a phase of being on piss poor tv in an attempt to raise his profile. Given what you said about when this made, it appears this was one of the shows he made in this period.

At the end of the day, he did do this for charity, and so I'm not going to be cynical because I'm sure he did take the charity thing into account before he made his decision to do the show.

As for the million pounds thing, where on earth did you hear that figure? We have heard all sorts of rumours regarding Alex's income all because this is the last ground where Alex fans can do battle with the highly successful and talented Kate.
Right from day one we heard claims that Alex received over one million pounds for the domestos ad, which we then found out was less than 10 grand.

Similarly we heard he was receiving over a million from the BBC to present "wish you were here", of course that turned out to be blxs.

I think I've said elsewhere that Alex isn't my type, but he's still alright. He was entertaining to watch in the house - unlike the fishmonger.

Of course the clincher is Alex is just Alex - he doesn't try to cover up or hide his bad points behind religion.

Some of this seems a little confused.
It was said that the Domestos thing was a 1 million pound campaign in total. Where did you 'find out that it was less than 10 grand'?? Alex actually got a six figure sum for that.

I never heard that Alex was receiving over a million to present WYWH and I'm sure I don't miss any news. It would indeed be blxs as you said as WYWH is on ITV.....
I remember it was said from the beginning that it would be a guest slot.....

I believe Alex got £150,000 for the Domestos advert.

Didn't I read somewhere that Alex said that nearly all his money had gone into property in Germany? A house for his parents and a small flat for himself.

Oh yes, almost forgot, Alex only does guest spots. I don't know why he doesn't make up with Kate, I'm sure with all her contacts she could could easily get him a job behind the scenes somewhere.........................best boy perhaps?

What contacts? please name them, oh you mean contact as in Andi peter's, Kate doesn't need talent to be a presenter does she because it really is a case of who you know, not what you know with her.

How do you know Alex and Kate are not on speaking terms anyway, for all we know they might be now, if not, just give it time.

As for work concerning Alex, I did read the following in the NOTW supplement, which my sister gave to me the other day, as it had Alex in it.

Dated July 20th 03, a quote from an Alex interview (and some really lovely pics of him as well )
" I'm in talks to do a tv show about real cars".........."How they handle in traffic" etc;........

I am quoting directly from that supplement, and was surprised nobody else had posted this news already or has someone?

Dear DD.... you seem a mite confused.... If memory serves.... it was macho man Spencer that was into Camping!!....

-----------

Back on topic..... I vaguely recall around the time of last year's Celebrity BB that Alex was asked if he would ever consider going back into the house as a celeb.... His response was something to the effect that he would not be interested in the BB format but might find something like a celebrity 'Survivor' an interesting challenge......

I suspect it was the 'Survivor' elements in this particular show that interested him........

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alex is no god or saint....... neither can he in any way be compared to Cameroon.....

Cameroon was known for his lack of openess.... unwilling to express his opinions..... playing his cards close to his chest..... and being pretty judgmental.....

Alex to the contrary is known for being sometimes too brutally frank and honest about his opinions.... to his own detriment with hms and viewers.... He did not play his cards close to his chest.... he lived the ups and down of the BB experience on a day to day basis.... He openly taked about some of the sh*t in his past ..... including the drugs, etc....

Alex is the only hm I can ever recall openly admitting that he was seeing things about himself that he didn't like... and not finding excuses for himself...

Some even say that Alex's speech on the stairs on the final night of BB3 was an act of falling on his own sword...... maybe it was a naive act, but It's definitely not something that Cameroon would contemplate.... in our wildest imagination...!!

Oh yes, as I've said on other threads over the months and recently on the OK thread..... Alex has his flaws and weaknesses.... perfection is so Boring!!! Nevertheless, Alex also has many strengths...... I'll not start reiterting them here, just those that seem pertinent to this thread....

Alex is no limp-wristed wimp (although he seems to have double jointed wrists and ankes.... don't be fooled)... He is a type A personality..... he's a bit of a speed freak and seems to thrive on challenges..... particularly personal and individual ones....

Alex has very good hand-eye coordination and a natural athleticism inherited from his mother.... Even in small ways some of this was hinted at in the BB house though the darts, pool, table football, croquet, roller-skating, etc..... He is a skier, swimmer, roller-blader, snow boarder, scuba diver and has done sky diving.... He has demonstrated physical and emotional courage....

its the sheer fact that in the house he was moaning constantly, yes for a good reason but still in not a good manner. now he has come out of the house an has been accused of shouting at a homeless guy for selling the big issue! now u may claim that it was a set up but the same thing is happening with cameron on the "loses it shock" topic! i cant comprehend how alex gets away with treating people like shit and yet cameron has 1 person sticking up for him! its all based on looks and i think thats the most stupid reason ever! alex's only thing in life that supports him is his looks through modeling and now through peoples fan base due to his looks!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the most part this has all been raised and discussed before..... several times....

As has been said..... Alex did his share of moaning in the house.... but meantime he was getting on with it, whether on the poor or rich side..... cooking, cleaning, washing, looking after the chickens, etc...... most of the other moaners were lying on the sofas, sunbathing or in bed.... and letting others get on with it....

I do agree with you to on one point.... the "Cameron loses it shock" topic.... I find the thread totally boring and can't understand it's longevity.... personally I could care less... Knowing the tabloids I have little doubt that the incident was hyped and twisted out of all recognition.... However, I find your comment about 'Alex getting away with treating people like shit' inaccurate and totally irrelevant...... just what has that got to with the price of eggs...?

Alex's looks are often not an advantage too him.... Many people.... such as yourself seem to be prejudiced against him for that reason.... judge him on looks alone.... They assume that because he has earned his living by his looks that he must be vain and self obssessed....

I suspect that in his business... the opposite is true (particularly among the blokes).... when you are surrounded every day in your working life, and competing, with people who are just as good or better looking than yourself, you could be forgiven for not considering yourself particularly special in that department.... Looks are relative..... this has been discussed on previous threads...

If..... in the modern vernacular..... Alex was so 'up himself' because of his looks..... how come he considered nothing beneath him.... He was brilliant on the poor side..... He really cared for those chickens..... He was totally commited to particpating in all the tasks, etc......

In fact that was another major reason that I admired him... he took his own looks completely for granted.... he didn't seem to be bothered about dressing up or making himself look physically ridiculous on occasion...... he really enjoyed those dressing up parties, etc..... and as for the plastic wrapped feet.... what a hoot!

BTW are you suggesting that Cameron is a Dog in the looks department....? Let me tell you something Stoopid.... based on looks alone.... My first impression of Cameroon, based on his 'lovely' smile and rosy cheeks, was that he was going to be one of the 'good guys'.... boy, was I disillusioned.... it took a while, but by the end of the first week I was having serious doubts about ol' Cam.... by the end of the show..... it was the negative aspects of his 'character' that seriously p*ssed me off...... As for Alex..... imho when he first went into the house, he was not at his best looks-wise.... initially I was a bit surprised that he was a professional model..... It was the contradictions and unusual aspects of his personality that first drew my attention..... coincidentally... he just seemed to get better looking as the show developed.....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is not the 'only' charitable work Alex has done.... but that is beside the point..... This is a thread about Alex and a particular show.... that happens to be done for charity...... That doesn't mean that acknowledging that fact denies any other hms have done likewise..... maybe more so.... who knows....... so what's your point? ........ "Appreciated".....? What is this.... a case of charitable one-upmanship?

PS. One of Alex's A-levels was Physical Education.

I agree, I was not specific before but Pedantic's post sums up all the reasons I have supported / defended Alex over the past year.

One of the most upsetting / irritating things is how he is simply labelled for his looks - as Pedantic said, I think this is a negative thing for him and he does not like or want to be judged for this, Pedantic gave examples, for myself I agree with this and would say that I did not rate them in the beginning.

The other thing is that 'supporters cannot see his faults'.
Not true - one of the reasons I support Alex is because of and despite his faults and the fact that he is so ready to acknowledge and berate himself for these.
As Pedantic said, Alex gave us himself in BB and lived the experience despite sometimes wishing he wasn't, at the time. There was no false persona or very much more to learn about his characteristics post BB, what he was then he is now and was before.

Alex is still willing to put his neck on the line for his views, no false grin or appealing to popular opinion. That is quite rare.

Aside from the charity aspect, I'm sure the challenge of 'Fear Factor' appealed to him, a week in Argentina taking challenges, suits him perfectly, he would have enjoyed himself.

Everything else, Pedantic wrote a perfect summary.

been a bit worried about BS recently.... his glass definitely seems half empty at the moment...... probably needs some psychotherapy....... or perhaps he just needs topping up.....

Alex is fearless. He can be seen walking across giant poles some thirty-five feet off the ground, taking part in survival-type challenges with a glass box full of snakes & rats on his head and then risking great danger in an underwater challenge !

And all for charity ! What a hero ! What a star !

Now that the infliction know as BB4 is over we can appreciate even more how good he was (although no where as good a Kate)
